Hi Bees! I have been a lurker for about a month or so, but this is my first post. This is my second marriage and taking place and my fiance’s aunts home. I bought this dress told that they could bring up the front so it wasn’t so low. At my fitting, we realized, I am long waisted and I would need a modesty piece to keep my bra from showing. I am a 36Dirty Delete so sewing in cups was not an option. I could live with the modesty piece, not happy about it, but okay. Now, the biggest disappointment is my bustle. I can’t seem to get the dress bustled right. We’ve tried some different things, but none have made me happy. I am on my 3rd fitting for just the bustle!! HELP! What bustle do you think I should do? I am not doing a train at all for the ceremony since it is not a formal wedding so this will be permanent. One bustle is the “ballroom bustle.” I liked it at first pinned up, but when I went to my fitting, it just seemed “off.” The other they just tucked the lace underneath. I like the over all look of no bustle, but not sure about how the lace is doubled up underneath. I need help! I am considering scrapping the dress all together (I have about $1k invested now with slip & alterations).
Any guidance or encouragement would be greatly appreciated!
Oh, pic of front, I am not wearing heels. When i went to my second fitting the dress was suddenly longer (due to steaming) so I had to get heels to keep it from dragging.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry pics are so big…not sure how to make them smaller. 🙁

Your dress is beautiful, it gives you the perfect curve. I love it!

I like the dress on you and I like no bustle as opposed to the pinned up thingy. I think this lace dress is great for an informal do. Also I think you are not showing too much boob in the pic, it looks fine to me. Sorry I can’t be more help.

That dress is gorgeous! I really like the look of the dress without a bustle. I honestly do not notice the lace tucked underneath, but is just hemming it not an option?
I defintely don’t think you should scrap the dress! The lace is stunning and the dress really shows off your hourglass figure!

I love it! You can’t go wrong with classic lace. I think you’re going to just have to change your outlook. It’s not practical (or necessary!) to get a new dress 2 weeks before your wedding, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Learn to love it!

The top and bottom pictures look fabulous! I do not personally prefer the style of bustle in the middle photo, but that’s just me.
One question: Is it possible to pin/sew a bit of lace or other embellishment on the “modesty panel”? It’s not necesary, but it might add a little something.

Thanks Bees, I knew I could count on you! I feel better already! I will check to see if just hemming the dress is an option instead of tacking the lace under in the back. I already have $100 in a ballroom bustle that I didn’t like…hopefully they will give me a credit towards doing a hem. From what I hear, lace hems can be pretty pricey!

I think you look amazing in your dress!

You look great! This was my 2nd place dress, I just love it! I like the second bustle option the most.

Your dress is gorgeous!!! Once you have your hair and make up done and the day is here, you will be fine!! I had major dress regret and ended up getting a second dress this past weekend with 3 months to go, but I think 2 1/2 weeks might be too short of a notice to change, unless you buy a sample dress and don’t get it altered.
I really believe it’s a beautiful gown though!!

I love the dress on you! Very classy and emphasises the hourglass figure!
If the dress needs hemming, perhaps you could use some of the dress material to make the modesty panel from? Then it would look part of the dress.
I am having a modesty panel too – like you my bra is too high and I want a plunging neckline – so I”m actually having a nude modesy panel and putting lace over the top of that, so it sort of looks like an illusion modesty panel. Maybe that’s an optoin?

@jillybean370: I think the modesty piece they chose seems off in color. It looks like an old undershirt. They need to match the color better. How about they cut off the train so it is floor-length in the back, and use the lace fabric for your modesty piece???
