- Wedding: October 2012
One of my best friends was in an accident last year that put her into a wheelchair. Although she’s very excited to be a bridesmaid in my upcoming wedding, she’s very nervous as well. I think we have most of the day figured out to make her comfortable-the church and reception hall are wheelchair accesible, we built a ramp to get her into the limo bus, and our florist ordered a special holder that clips onto the arm of her wheelchair to hold her flowers while she’s wheeling down the aisle.
The only area left that she’s really nervous about is the photos. She keeps saying that she wants them to be “perfect” for me, and she doesnt want to be the only one sitting. I’ve told her that they will be perfect to me, and I’ve talked to my wedding photographer and she seems confident that she can come up with some ideas on using different “levels” (having some of the wedding party sitting while others are standing or kneeling) to make interesting pictures. However, I wanted to see firsthand what some wedding pictures might look like so I tried googling-to no avail.
I’m just wondering if anyone has had a bridesmaid in a wheelchair before, and if you would be willing to post some pictures, or even just some ideas for how to set up the pictures. And if there’s any problems that I may not have thought of that may show up on the day of, I’d appreciate the heads up..I know it’s my day, but I really want her to feel comfortable and be able to have a good time as well.
Thanks so much!
