At my venue we are having two rectangular tables pushed together to make on 8ft table that seats 12 people. I want to use black and white damask table runners but can not figure out what size my table runners should be. If anyone has done this before can you please let me know what the dimensions of the table runners should be? How far should the table runners hang off the edge of the table or should they not hang off at all? I am so lost and would love any opinions, advice, pictures!

@mttd2605: Usually runners are 9′ long. Are you going to just put one on each of the tables and then push them together, or are you going to make your own?

@creativeplannertobee: The venue pushes two of the rectangulare tables together and then puts the table clothe over it. There are four people seated at each of the long sides of the table and two people on each of the ends of the tables. So I should get 9′ runners for the 8′ tables?

Yes. Do order an extra runner in case you come up short. It should hang off about 3-4 inches off each end or it can hang as long as the length of the table cloth. You could also add crystal beads or petals on top for an added effect around your centerpiece. You could also use the runner, not length wise, but width wise. This is a much more modern look and is quite sleek and clean. And, you could buy tassels from any trim/material store and either tie around each end, or get small ones and sew on each corner. You could also buy beaded trim for each end. Check efavormart.com they have some very reasonably priced damask runners.

Would these work for 8 ft long tables? Has anyone done table runners on 8 ft tables for their wedding…if so can you please send my a picture?

The table runner you posted is 108″ long. Your 8′ table is 96″ long so there will be 6″ overhang of the runner. Most runners sold are 108″ long. They will be fine. You need to decide if you want to put one down the center or two down the center.
