I don’t think those are bad at all! Since you hate chair covers and aren’t able to rent different ones, the only other alternative you really have is to do some sort of sash on them. I think a sash on that style of chair is risky. Due to the shape, they tend to come loose or fall down easily and then look worse than if you had nothing at all.

If you want to do a sash, I’d suggest going over the top of the chair back instead of around it, if that makes sense (perpendicular to the ground instead of the usual parallel). Like this: Chair Sashes over folding chairs, although I don’t love the tie, but something similar.

Honestly, I’d just do what I could to de-emphasize chairs. Have full-length to-the-ground white table linens so the chairs blend in (then do runners or a drape over the top to add color, do beautiful centerpieces to draw the eye to the center of the table, and then let it go.

I’m picky on decor and those chairs truly are not bad. Just create focal points elsewhere.

I honestly think they will be just fine, but if they bother you to the point that you have to do something with them:

Do you have time to make some cute slipcovers for just the backs of the chairs?

You don’t even have to sew them if you are not so inclined. You could use fabric glue and glue two of them together on 3 sides, then just pop them over the chair backs.

Standard 20×20″ size napkins would work well and you can buy those for about 50 cents each. Maybe that’s a place you could add the red you mentioned in the post about mosaic mirror tiles?

No one will notice the chairs but you. But if you want to dress them up a bit you can try sashes or adding decorations to the back.

Here’s a pinterest of chair deocrations.

@michiru4ever:  That’s a nice pinboard! What strikes me though is that they’re all on already nice or covered chairs. I think we should start a pinboard called “Folding Chairs at Weddings,” haha.

I expected to see chairs like this… I say use white table cloths and let the chairs blend in no one but you will notice the chairs!

I had a simular problem to yours!

I was hosting a bridal shower and the hall had really ugly metal chairs, so we rented white padded garden chairs.  On the day of, the chairs you posted are what was delivered.  I was absolutely devestated because I initially hated them!!!  I tried creating a sash with fabric that I had, but as another bee mentioned it kept slipping down.

We had to the floor white table linens with a nice runner and once the tables were decorated, your eye didn’t go to the chair.  Everyone thought the place looked wonderful!!  No one even noticed the chairs, and I realized that they were fine!

Just pay attention to all the other details, the chairs really don’t matter that much, and those are nice chairs!

Things guests notice about chairs:

1.  One is available

2. It is not wet

3.  Does not creak
