I bookmarked several Save The Dates I really like from minted.com. They’re apparently running a special on wedding orders through March 18th. This gives us exactly two days to make a decision if we want any savings (and we do!).
My fiance looked through all of my choices, and picked 3 that he really likes. Neither of us could narrow it down any more, so I told him I’d come to the Bee for some opinions.
Here are the choices:
We both thought this first option is really cute and fun, and since we’ve been together for almost 6 years we’d have a lot of “fun facts” to throw on there.
He proposed to me using Scrabble tiles, so this one is very “us.” If we ordered this one, though, we’d go with custom colors since I don’t really like any of the options provided on the site. Thankfully they’re offering custom colors for free for a limited time, so that’s not an issue.
The last one is very simple but pretty. I love the blues and greens (we’re using those in our color scheme), though I wouldn’t be opposed to choosing custom colors for this one.
What do you ladies think? Option 1, 2, or 3? Like I said, my fiance and I like them all so we’re interested in unbiased outside opinions.
Also, if anyone has ordered from minted.com, I’d like to hear feedback. How was your experience? (I’ve never used them for anything and neither have any of my friends, so I’m not sure what to expect.)

I voted for fun facts…it makes your STD’s unique for you & your FI!!! (And you’re an Omaha bride…love it!!!) 🙂

- Wedding: June 2013 - Country Club
I like the fun facts one! My second favorite is the abstract.

- Wedding: October 2014 - Legare Waring House
I think if the Scrabble tiles have some meaning for you, you should go with that. I mean, these are really for you after all 🙂

I love fun facts … as a guest id be really interested in that one

@angelinthesnowxo: I like number two, it’s cute and to the point. Number three is my next favourite. I don’t really like number one, though. I want a save the date to tell me when you’re gettimg married. And that’s it.
The harsh reality is, I don’t really care about all of the ‘fun facts’ of your relationship, so you might as well just go with something that looks nice. Especially since scrabble tiles mean something personal to you and fit your personalities. The scrabble tile proposal is a really cute story and if I was a guest the invitation would make me smile.

I love the idea of sharing relationship facts, but I would perhaps include them in your program, on your website, or in your welcome boxes instead of on the STD.
Aesthetically, I like the third one, but I think that’s because I’m having trouble imagining the tile one with better colors.
Doing the 2nd one would be awesome since that’s how he proposed…but who all knows that? It will only mean something to those who know, so either it’s “your little secret”, or something that may need to be shared for others to appreciate it.

I voted Scrabble tiles. But then, this was my save the date:
But they’re all cute! The first one would be my second choice!

@happilywaiting: Are you from Omaha? I’m actually not originally from here (my fiance is, though), but we’re getting married here.
@BridieBea: I was kind of worried about that as well, to be honest. I don’t want people to be like, “Ugh, I don’t care about this shit!” Haha.
@ohlookitssara: Quite a few people know how he proposed, so I think a lot of guests would understand the meaning. We’re probably not doing programs (I just don’t like them), a wedding website, or anything else similar. I don’t know if that makes a difference regarding your choice.
@JenGirl: Your Save the Dates are so adorable! I love that!

I like to hear people’s relationship stories, so I voted for the first one. The scrabble tiles are cute too since that’s linked to your proposal but I feel like they need to be spiced up a little more.

The first is adorable and very unique. I’ve used minted and was very happy with them!

I voted #2…clear and concise!
You could use the layout of #1 for your actual wedding…we are doing something like that with our programs…but that being said, they are all nice!

@angelinthesnowxo: No I am not Oma-Hot…LOL…but I used to live there, and strangely enough, when I lived there I was engaged (to my ex-FI) and did a lot of wedding planning there.
I’ve been back “home” in MA for the last few years, but Omaha will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved living there, and made some great friends there that I still talk to at least once a week. 🙂 Good luck in your planning.
I have a close friend in OMA who is a wedding planner if you’re in need of one (let me know if you want any details or recommendations on anything).

@happilywaiting: I’m glad you enjoyed your time living in Omaha. I’ve been here for about 3.5 years, and I think it’s pretty nice. We’ll probably be here for a long time.
Thanks for the offer, but we actually have a wedding coordinator. If I need any recommendations, though, I’ll know where to go!
@AmandaShea8: I’m glad to hear you had a positive experience with minted.com! Sometimes it helps to hear that someone else didn’t have any issues with a company.
Thanks for all of the opinions so far!
