Yes, i think ihad it once, a long time ago. Can’t remember exactly if it was trich, but it was itching (terribly) and both my bf at the time and me had to take some medecin. It passed quickly so don’t despair, ok??????? And it’s NOTHING to be ashamed of, Junebee 🙂

Hugs and hope you feel much better in the next couple of hours!

Trichomoniasis is one of the most common STI’s.  The protozoan do not live outside of the body for long but can live untreated in the body. Men usually do not exhibit symptoms whilst women normally do so men are usually the carriers (since no symptoms). Honestly I would be worried about where the infection came from.

I wonder if an oatmeal bath might help?  or maybe taking benadryl/anti-histamine or some other allergy med?

@junebee_2013:  please say he’s being treated as well? You don’t want a repeat infection.

Aww I am sooo sorry to hear that! And normally when you take ANY type of antibiotics it kilils ALL the bacteria in your body. Including the good bacteria that your vagina needs to clean itself, so antibiotics typically come along with yeast infections. So get some vagisil itch cream to put on the affected areas and I promise that will give you some relief. It’s not a huge relief but it definitely takes the edge off the horrible scary itch and burning that comes with yeast infections

@junebee_2013:  I’m so sorry your going through this! Make sure you drink LOTS of water along with the monistat as that will help wash out the yeast infection. As for the antibiotics, just be thankful that soon you will be  feeling alot better.

I also second the oatmeal bath. I hope you feel better soon!!

Oooh, ouch, I’m sorry this is happening to you. Infections are SO awful!

Have you heard of boric acid capsules for yeast infections? I think they can help with trich, too, since boric acid is a disinfectant (it is not harmful to insert it into your vagina, although it is toxic if ingested).

How to:

Get at least 14 empty, size 00 gelatin capsules (like the ones supplements come in– you can get them at health food stores or maybe at the drugstore).

Also get a bottle of boric acid powder, intended for use as a disinfectant (NOT laundry borax), which you’ll find near the hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol in the drugstore.

Fill the capsules with the boric acid powder. Insert 2 of them into your vagina every night for a week– or one before bed and one first thing in the morning. It may sting a bit for the first day but then takes the itching away and cures the yeast infection (really!! This is how I have cured a number of yeast infections in myself). It will make you have (sorry for Too Much Information, but I feel I need to let you know this) a lot of watery discharge; depending on how you feel about this sort of thing, you might want to wear a pad while you’re using the boric acid.

After you’re done with the week of boric acid capsules, get some digestive probiotic bacteria supplements and insert 1 or 2 into your vagina every day– to replenish the good bacteria there– and take the probiotics, too– it’ll help you recover from the antibiotic!

Also, it would probably be good if your SO treats himself for yeast– with anti-yeast cream like Monistat or by washing his privates with diluted cider vinegar a couple times a day, because it’s possible to pass yeast back and forth.

Hope you feel better soon. . . I feel for you. . . I’m dealing with a yeast infection right now too 😛 Good luck!

@junebee_2013:  Maybe you are actually allergic to something in Monistat? A lot of those kind of products have a bunch of chemicals in them, some of which can be incredibly irritating to some people.

@junebee_2013:  My fiance does work in a lab trying to find a cure for trichomonas vaginalis. He says you should take metronidazole or tinidazole, if they haven’t prescribed it already. I guess the issue with it is that it is becoming more resistant to drugs so antibiotics sometimes don’t work as effectively.

It sounds terrible and I am sorry you are having to deal with this. Good luck!
