I’m trying to work out what to do for centrepieces for my upcoming wedding and need some help! The venue is an old English country house and the dining room is styled like a sort of ‘library’ with lots of old books filling shelves along the walls. We don’t have a huge budget so I was trying to get around having big floral centerpieces. The bouquets etc will have lots of greenery with a few white and blush flowers. The tables will be rounds seating 8-12 people.
The other day I tried to mock up my ideas for centrepieces as I’m stuck between ones with books or with a gold candle holder. I just used what I had around the house to mock these up, I’m not good with flowers, I only had a few pink roses, and the greenery should be eucalyptus..but which should we go for?
Vintage books with flowers on top
Vintage books with greenery wreath
Gold candle holder with greenery wreath

i like the second and third option, not a fan at all of the first one!

I would be tempted to go; books, hurricane jar with candle on top and ivy wrapped around the books

Ooh thank you both for your thoughts. Btw the candle holder wouldn’t look like that at the top, I didn’t have one in the house so had to use a jewellery stand 😂!

kia2019 : I like the second and third. BUT the third display would be better on an entrance table like for the guests to sign in.
I like the second option as you said the tables will be round, and it will fill up the table nicely, and look geometrically pleasing.

I love vintage books! My husband and I are both avid readers so we loved including something in our centerpieces that was both beautiful and had senitmental value. I think #2 definitely looks better than #1 because to my eye, the flowers are too tall in #1. for ours, our floral arrangements were very low (almost in a dish of sorts) so they sat directly on top of the books. I’m still waiting for our professional photos to come back but this was the closest inspo photo I could find:
We had a more modest flower budget as well and found you didn’t need a ton of flowers on top to complete the look, especially if the books you’re starting with aren’t huge.
We also had smaller votive candles on the table and ours were just a bit more spread out.

ladama : Thank you, having one as the guest book display is a good idea!
kelbrimale : so good to know other people are doing similar arrangements! Having low flowers on top of the books sounds great. I’d love to see your pics when you have them back.

kia2019 : is go for the book stack and a shorter, fuller vase. Like just five inches max. You can always get some tiny filler flowers without spending an arm and a leg. I think the greenery wreath would be okay with a different type of leaf (but no useful suggestions here). I’d ditch the candles entirely.

kia2019 : I like options 2 and 3 as well!
2 fits your “theme” better, but i kind of like 3 sliiiightly more. Maybe because its similar to what i was going for.

Combine 2 and 3 with the candle on top of the books instead of the vase? The case looks a bit sparse as-is. I love the book idea though!

2 and 3 look delightful, I myself prefer 3, and you could consider placing a book under the table number. If you do choose to stack the books like 2, maybe just a few.. Usually, you aim for high or low centerpieces, there’s an awkward medium height, where people can’t see each other as well. Also, if you’ll be using real books, they may get heavy, just something to think about for transport and set up.

I like the first 2 but depends how big the tables are. From your second picture the greenery looks to be taking up a lot of space from the seated area, could be cramped for the guest with plates, drinks and food etc. I’d go with the first, smaller option.

#2 and I love unique centerpieces!
Another option would be to do a combination of 2 and 3 where you alternate which tables get which centerpieces.

kia2019 : This is such a cute theme! I would definitely go with more greenery. I vote #2 or #3 with a book to display the table number or name
I had to Google this
How about something like this?

kia2019 : love the book one! i’m doing something similar. i’m ordered some sets of decorative books in our wedding colors from etsy and I will have one of each color on each table with a rose gold vase that has some greenery and babies breath in it, then an ornate white frame with the table number (or table name). something like this:
and these are the books i’m ordering (plus some white ones)
