So I recently got my cushion amora gem and it is gorgeous!
Anyways, I’m getting it set into a new setting being created by David Klass. Problem is when I bought the amora gem I bought it loose so I decided to buy a $5 ring gem holder so I can admire it until my setting is ready. When I bought the gem holder from EBay I purchased it in silver tone because that’s what I’m used to. The item arrived yesterday and it came in the yellow gold tone. Soon as I saw it I was so mad because I’ve never really been a yellow gold kinda person but I decided to suck it up and see what it’ll look like anyways.
Soon as I put the stone in the holder I was in AWE! I don’t know if it was from the beauty of the stone or the contrast in the yellow gold. I couldn’t believe that I actually loved it!
So now I’m undecided and need your help! Below is a picture of my old white gold ring that I’m replacing so you can see the color difference and the Amora in the yellow gold placeholder.
What do you bees think?

I prefer the yellow gold, but it’s hard to compare because both of the settings are so different. I’m partial to very thin dainty bands so that may be part of the reason that I like the yellow gold better.

what type of setting are you putting it in?
yellow gold looks better with your skin tone

Yellow gold! I know -I felt the same way about yellow gold until I saw it on my tan skin and it looks beautiful on us! But choose the one that makes you glow!!

Thanks! I’ll post a picture of a similar setting I’m considering.
I know! I’ve never really worn yellow gold like that and now that I see it with my stone I’m feeling completely different. I think another thing that bothered me about yellow gold is how some yellow golds look darker or more duller than others and there’s so many shades of gold. I think the norm is usually 14kt right?

If you go with yellow gold, I would suggest white gold prongs so the contrast isn’t so heavy on the stone. I’m torn, I usually prefer yellow gold but for your stone size, I think the white gold band looks better (opposite reason from citysparkle haha, we all have different tastes!)

I voted yellow gold, but they’re both very lovely.
The easiest way for me to make a quick decision is I’ll choose something, and then that’s always when I realize what I want because I’ll either feel like I made the right decision or I’m all of a sudden longing to switch to the other choice.

I voted for yellow gold as well! Here is mine, I just think it blends very well with my fair skin. It looks good on your skin tone too!

I’m feeling the yellow gold. I was prepared to say white gold but I love the way the yellow looks on you. Adore.

18k ring including head and prongs.

I always prefer yellow over white, and I think it looks good on the majority of skin tones. It’s so much warmer than cold white. Kind of like the ivory vs white dress debate.

Here’s an example of what the setting and band will be in the 2 tones…

Thanks but Im not a fan of the 2 tones together. It would be all one color.
I kinda like idea of white gold with platinum prongs for strength since it’ll match but with yellow gold I’m not so sure.
Thank you! Yes it looks lovely on you!

Thank you. It’s so hard to decide! I’m so used to just wearing white gold all the time and now I’m loving the yellow gold :-/
Wow yours is Beautiful!
How much warmth does the yellow gold give the stone. My Amora is a color E and I love the sparkle it gives so if anything I’d be concerned about the warmth and color change..
