I am so torn between the two options. Your dress is absolutely gorgeous! I ended up voting for a plain/solid colored belt because it did define your figure a bit more. However, I would suggest that you do not get a super embellished belt because I feel it would distract from the beautiful detailing on the dress. Also if you do go with a belt I would suggest a ribbon (something light/not heavy) that is similar to the color of your bridesmaid dresses or a complimentary color to them or one of your theme colors. Just a suggestion 🙂

I’m torn. I can see why you are uncomfortable with it but I feel like adding a belt would take away from some of the gorgeous detailing.
Have you already spoken with a seamstress? I feel like it should be fairly easy to tighten a bit in the midsection thus giving you that cinched/belted waist. However I have never made alterations so I’m not 100% positive.
At the end of the day it’s about what YOU are the most comfortable with.

I voted for a plain colour belt as I think the contrast would be lovely as there is already a lot of sparkle on the dress itself

Solid coloured belt all the way. It looks way better with it 🙂

It looks SO much better with the belt. It gives you a shape and I think it accentuates the dresses features so I would get someting simple. This is from etsy but I don’t remember the seller.

I would definetely wear a belt!! It does add more to your shape

I vote no belt. A belt doesn’t really fit the feel of the dress, and seems out of place. Yes, even when I imagine it as ivory or silver and blingy.

I really do prefer it without the belt. I don’t think it makes you look pregnant, but if you are that worried about it, I think a better solution is to have the seamstress make the dress hug you more through the true waist so that you get the benefit of the belt without actually putting one on. It might even work to only take in the layers underneath and leave the top, sheerer layer as is.

Ahh I love the brown belt! lol too funny. I think it would look pretty either way. I voted no belt only because I think that your dress is STUNNING and it would take away from some of the detail that is on your dress. Since it’s an empire waist, I think it would almost look odd to have it cinched under the bust and then cinched again at the natural waist.

Ok, first of all, that dress is STUNNING! I love it!.. If I were you, I´d go without the belt.. I think it doesn´t make you look pregnant and I love the romantic look. However, I understand your concern, bc I tried a similar dress and had the same worries, but the dress I tried was much more flowy, so you know!… However if you choose to use a belt (which also looks amazing), I think a simple solid color belt would look better than a beaded one…
P.D: what´s the name of your dress??

BELT ALL THE WAY! When I first saw your dress, I wasn’t very blown away. Then, I saw it with the belt, and I was like “wow that’s a pretty dress.” Sparkly belt for sure!!

thank you!!(0= I actually took it to the seamstress yesterdays and just had her tack it in alittle bit in the front so it wouldnt flow to far away from my body around that area..I was too in love with the romantic look and I felt like the belt was taking away from it!! The dress is Allure style# C109 But I will tell you that the model picture is NOTHING like this dress in person!! It is so light and flowy and it sparkles in the light like diamonds!! If I had saw the model picture before I saw the actual dress I would have never picked it.. so Im glad I found the dress first!! (0= Thanks again!!

Thank you to everyone that voted!!!! I put on my dress again and really looked hard at all the detail and came to the conclusion that I am IN LOVE with the way it looks without the belt..(minus the prego look)..lol SO..I took my dress to the seamstress yesterday and she is going to try to tack it in closer to my blody around the tummy area without loosing the look and romance of the flowy empire waiste!!!!! So Ill get the belted waisteline look, Minus the belt(0= Im so Excited to get it back and see if it works!! Thanks again for all of the votes!!

I would go for the belt for sure… BUT… have you considered tying a white/cream ribbon belt under the top, see through layer of fabric on your dress instead? Just out of curiosity, maybe you should try, because I wonder if the top layer would disguise the ribbon and mean that you could keep the same overall finish whilst making it a bit more streamlined… basically, could you change the shape of the underneath layers but not the top layer?
EDIT: Just read your last post… great minds think alike, LOL!
