I bought my dress yesterday and I was certain it was the one. Now looking at the pictures, I am not so sure. Looking back now, it is way more mermaid and fitted than I thought. I am a tomboy…not girly at all and usually hate mermaid dresses. I’ve always thought, and been told I don’t have the body for a mermaid or fit and flare dress. Everyone in my family said I need an empire or natural waist because I have a short torso and a manly shape. They liked really simple and understated a line dresses on me. I could tell my step mom and sister in law were not in love with the dress, but im not sure if they were surprised by the shape or if it looks bad on me. I know I have some weight to lose, but my body wont change that much so I’m worried I got wrapped up in the experience and not the dress. Any advice or opinions (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated.

@MrsGraves59: Definitely not! I love the shape of the dress and it fits you perfectly. You have a perfect figure already (no need to lose any weight – don’t get caught up in the whole wedding weight loss thing) and that dress looks AMAZING on you! Congrats on finding such a pretty dress.

I don’t see a manly figure!! Maybe it’s the stuff your family has pushed you toward that makes you think you don’t look feminie, but it’s certainly not that dress! It looks great!

Gorgeous. You look absolutely feminine in that dress, and I think if anything it elongates your torso.

@MrsGraves59:
It’s a very pretty dress! And you have a very womanly curvy shape (especially in that dress)
You don’t need to lose weight!- all you need is a pair of spanx 😛

girl – MANLY SHAPE?! where? who is feeding you this negativity? you look beautiful, and the dress looks great!
don’t worry about what you were ‘supposed’ to get or what others think of your choice (or body!) you look fantastic and you must have loved how you felt in it to choose it.

@MrsGraves59: You look incredible in that dress, you most definitely made the right choice. Oh, and what’s that thing about a “manly” shape? Your family need glasses, you have a lovely womanly figure.
