Hi all future brides…
I am asking for some reassurance. Almost minutes after I bought my dress, I felt I had made the wrong decision! It was the first dress I tried on and I only tried on about 5 total. I was with family who had babies, and I felt rushed and like I made a quick emotional decision based on their positive reaction to the dress. Ever since I bought it I have been feeling sort of sad about it, on and off. When my sister sent me pictures from the day I had a feak out moment because I all of a sudden HATED how it looked on me. It seems boring, unflattering (especially in the chest area), and dated. I so so wish that I would have tried on other dresses! Buying another dress is not an option. Did this ever happen to anyone else? I realize I am lucky enough to even have a dress, but everyone dreams of their dream dress and this just does not feel like it :-/ But it’s too late. Any advice?

That’s my kind of dress. You look great!

I think you look gorgeous and the dress is completely flattering! I’m sorry you felt rushed. Happened to me, too. But seriously you look great!

I think your dress is beautiful and it looks gorgeous on you! The ruching in the top is very flattering 🙂

If you don’t like it and you have the money, go out and try on others and sell that one on Ebay, Craigslist, or a wedding website. I think it looks beautiful on you – but you have to feel good in it!

@trustingbride: i think its gorgeous! I did the same thing and bought mine super fast…. I think it just feels funny sometimes to make decisions since there are so many to make and SO many choices. It’s beautiful, flattering and you’ll look great! One big check off your list!

I really think that picture is the worst to judge the dress from. It’s clearly such an unflattering angle. I think the dress is beautiful! Pick out some accessories you’re in love with and breathe! It will all be fine 🙂

I really like your dress! I think a little more bling in the belt could help it feel more modern, if you feel it looks too vintage!

the dress is beatiful! My advice would be to stop looking at the picture and just try and close your eyes and visualize how you felt in the dress the moment you decided to pick it. That was the best advice I got when I had dress regret. Hope it helps!

Ah, dress regret, thou art a heartless beast.
You look amazing! But I know what you mean about second-guessing yourself. Only one person saw me in the dress I ended up buying, though a few others saw the photos, so I keep wondering exactly what everyone thinks about it.
It may not be too late to talk with the dress shop and see if there are options for exchanging it for store credit, or if you can order another dress. To be honest, though, I’m so jealous that it suits you so well! If you feel that the bust isn’t flattering, maybe try checking with a seamstress about what can be done there?

@trustingbride: dude it looks awesome!! If you don’t like the neckline, you could always look into having it altered into more of a sweetheart – those seem to be pretty universally flattering. But seriously: crappy photo angle, awesome dress.

I think it’s a gorgeous dress. 🙂 Is there anyway you can go back to try it on just to make sure you do love it? You can always sell it to make some cash so you can buy a new dress.

I think you look amazing! It fits you so well and really flatters your figure. Dress regret is so common! I totally had it too. I felt sort of sad everytime I looked at the pictures. But I ended up loving how my dress looked in the end 🙂

I love that dress. What is it that you don’t like about it? I had some serious regret about my dress, but I was able to alleviate it through alterations and accessorizing. If you like lace, mermaid dresses, I can’t imagine a more beautiful dress that would look more beautiful on you. Did you think you wanted something completely different, altogether?
You could add a bolero to change the look, change the belt, add sleeves…
