So after searching and searching I finally found a place for my reception- woo hoo!
The only problem is that its not a traditional “wedding” venue- its actually a small mom and pop kinda comfort food place that is next to a big wharf… I was initially looking at it for my engagement party, but when i saw the place i realised that the wharf is def big enough to do my wedding (I just have to hire my own tables and chairs) which the owner is ok with.
Now for the tricky kung fu negotiations- the place doesnt have a “function” menu and the owner said to just pick a few choices off the menu… I really want a 2 course meal and then we have our cake for desert.
The prices of the menu is
cake cutting fee $2
The owner is also happy for us to bring our own alcohol (Im only have sangria and wine/beers) with a corkage charge of $2 per person
SOOOooo according to my calculations its $54 per person + any other drinks they consume (like soda etc)…
My question to you bees is that how should i negotiate this price? The owner said to come down and we will figure out pricing, but I want to make sure that I am fair in my offer…
Should I offer the costs of what it would be if it was an average customer ie $54 per person + drinks –> maybe roughly $60
OR should I expect a surcharge because its a large group
OR is it a higher price because I will be occupying their place for 4hrs (whereas customers can get turned over in 1hr)
What do you guys think? Im meeting with them in 2 weeks but i want to make sure that i am realistic in what i can offer…
Lots love to all my bees =)
