Months ago I did the unthinkable, I gave in and let my bridesmaids pick different style dresses. They are all long Alfred Angelo satin gowns in eggplant but its still not what I ever wanted but I needed/wanted happy girls.
Well here we are less tha nthree weeks before the wedding I am having total a total panic attack about it. Im terrified that its going to look a mess, disorganized, etc. etc. I know tons of girls do it, I am just a total OCD freak about things matching.
Can anyone who did this please please please give me some pictures to help ease my mind? When I google image mismatched dresses I get different colors. These are all the same color and fabric just different style numbers.

Calm down, there is nothing wrong with mismatched Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses 🙂 My girls just selected their dresses this past Saturday. From the beginning I told them I wanted them to pick the dress which best suited them since they will be purchasing their dresses. Also, my girls range from different sizes and shapes so I couldn’t see any success in picking one gown for all my girls to wear. My only request were that the dresses would be the same length, color (burnt orange), and same fabric (chiffon).
Each girl picked a beautiful dress and best compliments her body and personality. I can’t wait to see them in their dresses on my wedding day..they are going to look so fabulous!

I know there are bees on here that have gorgeous wedding shots with their BMs rocking this look. I hope they post. If not, there are probably other threads that you can search to find this topic with pix.
ETA: I think when this look is using the same fabric and color (usually the same designer) but in a different silhouette, it looks dynamite!

My girls chose their own dresses. I gave them some guidelines to follow (color, length and fabric) and requested that they be from the same designer since burnt orange isn’t exactly easy to match. They looked fantastic!

They will look fine! With the same length and fabric you cannot go wrong. Do you have pic’s of their dresses?

I don’t have pictures, but in one of my good friend’s weddings she let us do this and it was beautiful. We all went to David’s Bridal and she chose the color and we chose the dresses that looked best on us. The dress I originally wanted looked better on a different bridesmaid and I liked another style better on me too. It worked out so well because we all got to wear something we liked but we still looked uniform because they were all the same fabric (with some different fabrics in the details) and the same cornflower blue. I liked having the option because I was the only plus size girl in her wedding party and I didn’t want to be squeezed into a dress that would have been flattering on everyone but me. As a plus sized girl I was very grateful to my friend for giving us the option to pick our own dresses. Believe me, your bridesmaids will be thankful for you giving them some options.
If I can find a group photo or better individuals I’ll post them.

Mine will be similar to this (same designer/color..some of these styles):

My girls all chose different styles, but the same color and satin fabric (except for the Maid/Matron of Honor who is wearing a chiffon in the same color). Here’s the mock-up:
It actually looks better in real life. Each girl looks so fabulous and comfortable in their own style dress.

Thanks girls! the pictures help ALOT!! I know tons of girls do this and love it, I am just way too OCD for my own sanity!!!
I noticed in some of the pictures the girls all have the same hairsyle. Well same theme, everyone either up or everyone down. Do you think this is important and helps keep things clean? I have two that want to wear their hair up, one that wants a side pony and one that wants a half up half down. Should I enforce more similar hairstyles? i bought them all the same jewerly so that matches.

I am planning on doing something similar to this. Long chiffon dress in whatever color I choose, but I am letting my BM’s pick the style they want. I am letting them do whatever they would like with their hair too. I have been in 4 weddings and in only one was there a specified hairstyle. I personally don’t want my BM’s to be too matchy matchy, but that is just my preference.

@PurpleLonghorn: I love these dresses! Who is the designer?

Although everyone was allowed to pick a different style, 2 of my bridesmaids picked the same dress because they both thought it was the best dress for their body type. It worked out really well. They all rocked their dresses!

What about the wrap dresses that can be fitted a few different ways? That way length, fabric, and color are guaranteed but each girl can tie hers a different way so that if fits her needs and flatters her body type. I’m considering this option since I have girls from very thin to hourglass to apple shape.
