Anyone who can chime in on how to make a great dress, please do.

I’ll probably use Shop 2.0 due to time constraints. I would use Linda’s Shop, but I am not sure she can get a dress done by October.

I want a mermaid, as those look best on me. I need long sleeves or half-sleeves or quarter-sleeves, too. I want a ‘wow’ dress without it being totally over the top. I like lace, and so does my Fiance. I also don’t mind ruching and tulle, though. I like a nice train. I don’t love illusion necklines or sleeves.

I’ve literally been running myself ragged looking at dresses over the past month. We’ve had a short engagement and I’m a naturally indecisive person, but that has been the worst. I actually bought a dress already, but I don’t love it. 🙁

I know this is an odd request, but maybe someone has seen something or has a good idea to put all of these elements together.

Hello ladies!

1. How many weeks/months would you budget for your timeline from start (sending your very first request for a quote) to finish (actually receiving your dress in the mail)?

2. For THE SHOP, what is the difference between the “Premium Grade” materials and the “Designer Grade” materials? Which is “better”?

3. What suggestions do you have for sending in your initial request? Pictures vs. descriptons, list specific material types/colors, list model names/numbers for inspiration dresses etc.

Finally, if someone could PM the names/details for Shop 2.0 and other dressmakers, I’d be so appreciative!

1. How many weeks/months would you budget for your timeline from start (sending your very first request for a quote) to finish (actually receiving your dress in the mail)?

For me, without alterations or changes from the shop after mid production pics were sent, it took exactly 10 weeks. I ordered mid- March and got my dress late June. I gave myself a month for alterations, but luckily, I didn’t need any. I would consider myself in the 10% who don’t need any changes. Because I was so nervous about the fit, I felt like I was in more of a rush to get the dress delivered. In hindsight, I would have questioned small things, like whether the lace color I asked for was the material that was used… for example, I initially had light champagne lace and then I changed it to in between off-white and light-champagne. In looking at my dress, I hardn’t see the contrast against the champagne satin. Also, I think they skimped me a little on my beading at the edge of the sleeve, like I should have asked for more, so that it resembled the picture better. But I was so worried about the shipment time, esp from bees experiences that I said yes to the mid-production pics and the final pics without questioning. Regardless of these two issues, I absolutely love my dress and have gotten lots of complements from my bridesmaids. If I were you, for a simple design, I’d budget 5 -6 months at the very least.

I am currently working w/ the shop 2.0 (Cherry) on reception dress, and it seems their return time is much quicker… I should be getting pics soon.

and the “Designer Grade” materials? Which is “better”? I used regular premium grade and everyone says it is extremely well made.

3. What suggestions do you have for sending in your initial request? Pictures vs. descriptons, list specific material types/colors, list model names/numbers for inspiration dresses etc.

Pictures is better… pictures of the design, of the beading, of the lace… whatever you can to be specific about what you’re looking for. It’s also better to send everything all in one shot so you don’t have to go back and forth to make sure they have received any changes.

For bees who ordered from Linda/USA shop, how much did you pay in shipping (to the US)?

I am a regular participant in these posts, but I want to stay anonymous due to the fact that I know the sellers read these boards.

I need opinions on two things:

1. Do you feel that the quality of Linda and 2.0 are equal? If not, is the price difference worth it?

2. Are both shops able to produce within the timeframes they mention?

3. Would you base your selection of the shop you are going with based on the design of the dress?

If anyone is feeling charitable and will PM me regarding the dress I am considering, I would appreciate opinions on which you think would replicate it better.

Thanks very much.

sigggy86:  I think I have to pay like $50 I onder how big of a box they ship in. I asked about that and they told me that it includes insurance for the full amount which I guess is fine because what if it gets lost in the mail then would they refund me or would I be screwed and even if paypal sided with me how long would it take to get my money back.

reallycuriousbee:  I think if you’re getting a simple dress the shop 2.0 is the way to go. I would say that Linda’s shop’s quality is comparable with THE SHOP’s more than the shop 2.0. If you look at the other board there have been 2 dresses made recently with see through lace top halves. One was made by the shop2.0 and the other was made by Linda’s shop. On the dress made by the shop 2.0 the bust cups were clearly visible but on the dress made by Linda’s shop the cups were perfectly covered by lace. On the thread before this one I posted the shop 2.0’s version of the dress I have ordered and it was not good there was another bee on here too who got a dress that was a little more complicated and she ended up getting something else. But if you’re having a simple dress made then I would go with the shop 2.0 because they do great work with simple dresses and in that case I don’t think it would be worth it to pay the extra for Linda’s shop. If you would like to PM me what you’re after I would be happy to help.

Mrs.BigBear:  I would budget 8 months because I have read that some brides have ordered their dresses 7 months before their wedding and still not gotten the dress until after the wedding. I would suggest sending pictures and description and also maybe circling areas in the pictures that you want to be sure that they get right and bringing those things up in emails and make sure that they repeat back to you what you said so that you know that they understand what you want.

I need some opinions fast I ordered this dress but with the sleeves pictured below it and my cousin told my that adding the sleeves might not have been the greatest idea because a trumpet dress needs a more simple neckline and that together its too much then my Maid/Matron of Honor chimed in and agreed if I’m going to change it I need to do it fast because my dress will be done soon.

A quick question for anyone who has gone the replica route. When you ordered your dress, did it come with the same inner structure as the dress you were using as your design image? For eample, if it had an innder lace corset and or boning, did the replica come with that, or did you have to specify to include that? I’ve tried on several dresses that had an inner, elastic, lace-up, type of corset and felt that it was really helpful. (and, for a realy stupid question, how does everyone put their photos together, add colors, lines, etc? I likely need the top and bottom of one dress, but with a more modest neckline and am not sure how to accurately present that info). Any tips/suggestions would be most appreciated! Thank you!
