I’m getting married in October and finally got my dress this weekend. My problem is I had already picked out my flowers and have a contract with my florist. While I don’t think the florist will have a problem altering my contract, I am having a hard time thinking what flowers for my bouquet.
Background: I had specifically picked my colors royal blue, from the blue dendrobium orchids and yellow, because it’s my favorite color. My girls are wearing horizon blue from DB, to go with the blue in the orchids. They will be carrying yellow dendrobium and yellow rose bouquets.
The first picture is my dress :). The second picture is the bouquet I had picked out, but my dress is ivory, so the lilies are out. I can use cream colored roses with the blue dendrobium orchids (third picture). But I don’t think the flowers really go with the style of the dress. Does it really matter, or am I just overthinking it? Do you bees have any suggestions.

I would really appreciate any help with this

Somehow the blue dendrobiums are feeling a little too edgy for your dress. Maybe it’s that they’re not as soft against the white, and stand out a lot. Is your heart really set on the orchids? Could you go the blue hydrangea route?

I agree with pp, they seem too edgy for the style of your dress. You could use something different all together or you could just use a softer colored orchid in your bouquet and keep the blue everywhere else. Keeping the same price range of flower but a different color shouldn’t throw your florist for such a loop when it comes to your contract.

I think you can still use the orchids (the centerpieces would be gorgeous!) but if you think it wouldn’t match your dress you could go with a different blue flower in your bouquet. That color blue was our wedding color too and we used delphinium for the bouquets and actually green orchids for centerpieces similar to yours. So the flowers don’t have to match throughout the wedding.

ooh new thought: nix the orchids in your bouquet, but a single blue orchid for your Fiance and his groomsmen, and then blue orchids in your centerpieces. That will be lovely!

@pengoala: @Jennawesbren: thank y’all. that is what I think too. The dress is more a romantic style, and the flowers are exotic, so I don’t think they ‘go together’. I actually reposted this in the Flower topic, and a lot of people say I’m overthinking it, which I know I am, but I did send an email to my florist and just waiting for a response.
@pengoala: I love the hydragea look, and have been thinking about that since I got my dress. And I think if I change my bouquet (which I probably will) my groom will still have the blue orchid as planned. But the groomsmen will be having a yellow orchid to match with the girls.
@shellzbellz: Your bouquet is gorgeous! Our florist is actually using the blue delphinium is our church arrangement. What else is in your bouquet?

There’s light green hydrangea, green hypericum berries, ivory roses and freesia in addition to the blue delphinium.
