Today is the day! I picked up my clomid from the pharmacy! 1 year (in which I had 3 cycles..), 3 doctors, 1 semen analysis, 1 ultrasound, and countless blood labs later..
I also picked up some digital ovulation tests, FRERs, and preseed!!
The doctor’s plan is for me to take BCP for a month, and when my period comes to take my 50mg generic clomid days 3-7. I’m not getting my hopes up for the first month, but I’d love to hear your stories!!

I don’t have anything to add but I just wanted to say good luck!

what sort of stories?
on our cycle before this, DH was to pick up the clomid from the pharmacy at walmart (because he works at walmart). the doc wrote the prescription wrong (or her handwriting sucked that bad and wrote it for 90something pills instead of 15.
my husband called me to say that the clomid was too expensive this month and- that’s when my brain clicked into panic mode… i didn’t even hear the rest of what he was saying. i started screaming at him over the phone… voice getting higher as my panic grew. i’m pretty sure i sounded like doctor doom from roger rabbit at the end.
what my husband was trying to say was that the clomid was too expensive this month and we can get what we need, but they will just put that we can have refills because the doctor wrote too many on there. oh.

What kind of stories are you interested in? My first round I did 50mg, and upped that to 100mg for the second cycle. I took it from day 3-7, just like you will be. My side effects weren’t too bad, the worst ones I had were mood swings (with some rage moments) and night sweats. Once I started taking it before bed, it seemed to help the night sweats.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have any success on Clomid. I did ten rounds (which is the maximum life-time allowance for a woman) and never got pregnant. I’m hoping you have much better luck. Good luck!

Successes, or if it didn’t work..your personal side effects, etc.. Guess I should be more specific!

I have the kind of story you probably want to hear. We were ttc for 11 months with no luck, started clomid CD 5-9 with pretty much no side effects (I think I had one hot flash) and got pregnant that cycle. I am now almost 20 weeks!

no successes yet. and my last cycle was clomid + trigger shot + IUI.
the side effect that i feel most affects me is hot flashes. i swear they happen almost exactly three hours after i take the pills…. every single time.
i also angered more easily.

@LAZB: That’s great news! Congratulations. If you don’t mind me asking..why did you get put on clomid (aside from the months of trying)? PCOS? Annovulation?
How many cycles into it are you? I hope your luck turns around!!
I have been “diagnosed” with PCOS (my doctor is hesitant to put that label on it right now). All of my bloodwork is in normal ranges, but my LH is 8.6 and my FSH was at 7.6 at my last blood draw on CD3. I’m trying to make sense of it all still..
I am curious what the specifics were that made TTC difficult for each of you because I just have a feeling this won’t work for us.
Also: My doctor doesn’t want to do any ultrasounds while I’m on it this first cycle to make sure I ovulated. Is this what you all experienced as well?

I was placed on Clomid 50mg due to annovulation and severly irregular periods. I take it CD5-9. 50mg had no side effects. Second round we went up to 100mg, got pregnant. Unfortunately that little bean didn’t stick around long. We took a break while I recovered from the miscarriage, and I just got finished with my third round, no luck. I did notice on this third round I had some mild ‘hot flashes’. I’ll start the next round of pills tomorrow! Excluding the couple months I was pregnant, we’ve been trying for a year now. I recommend taking the Clomid at night in case you do have any side effects.
To confirm I ovulated, my doc did a CD21 progesterone level. The clomid “delayed” my ovulation to CD16-18, but I would still get great progestrone levels that indicated I did ovulate.
Best of luck to you!!

Took clomid due to extremely low post o progesterone. First dose I “didn’t know” I had gotten pregnant as I had a totally normal period and was taking tests before AF that were so faint i thought they were faulty. Then i started bleeding again after I finished my second round of clomid. Turns out I did get pregnant the first time but it was ectopic and resolved itself by miscarriage( which I really think was thanks to taking the next round of clomid.) Anywho, it took about 10days for the miscarriage bleeding to stop and the very next day I o’d again which resulted in my now 11w pregnancy. 🙂
I was on 50mg, 5-9. Side effects were I got an awful yeast infection and had horrible hot flashes. Tylenol at night helped ease them enough that I could sleep. My doctor did not do any monitoring either but with the mc, I had an ultrasound that showed two good follicles ready to go.

@MissLunchbox: I ovulated on my own, but had a very short luteal phase. The clomid helped me to have a stronger ovulation and longer luteal phase.

@MissLunchbox: I had success with clomid! Had extremely irregular cycles, and didn’t know if or when I was ovulating. My doctor put me on 50mg days 5-9. I went all in that month though – acupuncture, preseed, ovulation tests, and temping. Got a positive ovulation test, then my temps stayed up. I had a really good feeling, but waited until 15DPO before testing. Got a very clear BFP! My daughter is 6 months now. Good luck!

@StaceyA: Congrats!! Do you mind sharing what issues you had with TTC?
That gives me so much hope!! I’m all in too. Dropped 80 bucks on digital OPKs, 3 FRERs, and preseed. Now to wait!
I have extremely long cycles. Last one was 110 days before doctor put me on prog. to bring on period so we could do some blood testing on CD3. Right now I’m on CD40 with no O in sight..hopefully this helps!!
Keep em’ coming!

@MissLunchbox: We did three cycles in which i did not successfully ovulate at all. We only acheived ovulation after we added in the trigger shot.
We are taking a break from treatment right now to pay the medical bills down. When we go back, I’m going to ask about Femara since I didn’t respond much to Clomid.
