@hollykirsten:  If it helps, I think your officiant fits the “theme” of a country/farm wedding and I’m sure most people were far more interested in what you were wearing anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚ You look great!

Thanks, everyone, for making these posts. I am going to try to remember some of these things when I do my wedding though I’m sure there will be some small details in my wedding that don’t go as planned too.

A few regrets:

1.  Not being the first one to get hair and make-up done.  The girls at the salon ended up running behind because my mom got a little picky and took up some of my time (oops).  I didn’t get to put on the fake lashes I’d hoped for and ended up with kinda shitty hair style (not at ALL what I had for my portraits).

2.  I think we made a poor choice with the photographers.  There are a few pictures I wish we had and I think we could have done better.

3.  I think we could have cut the list.  We rushed putting it together and there are peopel I haven’t seen or spoken to since the wedding.

4.  I wish I didn’t have a beer in my hand for every single photo at the reception!

5.  We didn’t eat!!!  I wish we’d arranged to have someone bring us food.  People still talk about how amazing the food was but we never had any…

I look like a hot mess!

All in all, though, it was amazing and it was honestly the best day of our lives so far!

@hollykirsten:  I cannot believe your officiant wore that!! It’s actually kind of “cute” in the pictures.  But… if my officiant wore that, I might have a heart attack ๐Ÿ™‚

@Brielle:  Ahh, you guys are making me so nervous. My flower girls are 4 and 2. While adorable, they are not the best mannered when around their mother (I know…) I can just picture them running screaming down the aisle….

What a great thread! I’m getting married in August and while my heart aches a bit for brides who had hiccups, some bigger than others on their big day, it has helped me come up with a list of details and issues to watch for!

One issue I noticed was brides and grooms not getting to greet everyone or trying to greet everyone and then not getting to eat!

What we are doing is a Scandinavian tradition where two chairs are placed in front of the bride and groom at their dinner table with signs on the back that say “come say hello” so that guest can feel free to come have a seat and have a quick chat with us while we are seated.

I’m hoping this will alleviate  the pressure on us to be constantly out of our seats saying hello to guests and allow us to eat and drink and catch our breath on our day.

@Mars62312:  You look beautiful and like you had a great time, but I can relate with “the beer in the hand” all night. Because of that very thing I’ve reserved myself to wine all night(or beer in a wine glass) because I’m convinced it will “look better” in pics. o_O

@nearlymarriedlass:  Aww thank you!  And really I didn’t even notice it till later on during the reception.  I had too many other things going on in my head and when I really took a moment and looked at him I was like Oh lord!  But then I was like “well, probably shouldn’t have told him he could wear whatever he wanted!” Then I was off to do something else.  Its just looking at my photos now from the ceremony I really just wish he had worn something a bit nicer. ๐Ÿ™‚

@saffy:  Thank you!  I agree he does fit the theme, I just wish he had gone for a bit more upscale version of my theme! LOL.  Oh well… Im sure it could have been MUCH worse!

@Miss Blue Whale:  In its own sense it is kind of cute.  Thank you for saying so.  It was a bit of a shocker though!  Just glad I didn’t have a heart attack because when reality set in it kind of felt like I was gonna have one.  But one thing about weddings is that there is so much going on that before it could become a full blown heart attack something else had taken my attention away and I was off!
