I’m sure some things will go wrong on my wedding day. It seems to be the norm. However, I do promise myself I will not be a  bridezilla on my wedding day and that after all the planning I’ve done to make sure  everything is nice and just the way I like it, there is nothing more I will be able to do. What will be, will be. I promise myself I will not get upset at anything and I will hold dear to this pledge especially now that I’m promising myself that once I’m sitting in that chair getting my hair and makeup done, I will be 100 % happy! Love that piece of advice. Thank you for sharing it! You looked absolutely beautiful in your wedding dress; i love your flowered headband and your bouquet is absolutely delicious!

I bookmarked this thread and spent the last week or so reading it off an on, I finally finished it! I just wanted to comment so other brides could see this post again – it was soooo helpful! Things I’ve learned from this thread:

– Make a very detailed photo list

-Be ok when things go wrong; not everything will be perfect

-Communicate with the DJ

-Try really really really hard not to have a bridezilla moment, because I’ll feel bad about it later!

Brides, take the time and read this thread! So much awesome advice!

I had the groom be in charge of hiring the jazz band. I ended up HATING the music it was like elevator music.  Eventually my dad went up and told them that they had to play some more upbeat songs becuase they were going to put us to sleep.  I was mostly horrified because we were getting photos done for the first hour and a half they were playing and the guests had to listen to it for that long before it was corrected…by far my biggest regret.

Also, we didn’t really have a option for cake tasting as we live in a really small town so I just got some cupcakes from the best bakery in town and they were heavy and dry.  Luckily I think most people were full by then but I don’t think I could have given them away even if I tried.

The amount of money that we spent on our reverend.  I was worried about having issues finding someone to marry us since I’m catholic and he’s jewish, so we spend $500 on a reverend.

Oh and maybe wishing there was a magical pill that could have given me about 5 more hours of energy.  A lot of our friends went out after the wedding, but we skipped right to our hotel room – both of us were way too tired for going out.

Other than that, no regrets from the actually day of the wedding.  The day was PERFECT!!!!  🙂

randombee: I regret leaving some things until the last minute given that our wedding was not at the same state where we lived, it was hard getting some things done. Because of having things to do the day before the wedding, both DH and I got very little sleep (3 hours) and had to wake up super early because we had a morning wedding. Everything went just perfect and it was a beautiful day. It all worked out at the end, but if I had to do it again, I would have traveled with more days in advance to get everything done days before the wedding.

I regret buying my dress online. I am plus size (size 18), tall (6’0″) and I have a long torso.

I should have tried dresses on at different shops, to see what kind of cut/fit looked best on me.

I ended up getting a tea-length dress, but the waist was high, and made me look pregnant… it also just had a zipper in the back, so it wasn’t form fitting, so I looked as wide as a house. And I only have B-Cup boobs, it made me look like I had giant watermelons.

I took it to a tailor and she said “there isn’t much i can do… this is just how the dress is made.”

So yeah. I kinda hated my dress.

I haven’t heard anything bad regarding iPod receptions in this thread… which is my biggest concern at the moment!
