felixgirl2004 : Sorry…I didn’t realize I was on the Tianyu thread last night.  Ella did my ring so you can mention my name and say you like the proportions.  I don’t know if it is because I shared some very specific drawings and CAD’s with them when I was making my ring but they didn’t do any weird or oversized shoulders on mine.  The ring dimensions were perfect.  I am actually making a duplicate of it with a jeweler in a harder platinum mix and have my 10 mm moissy set into that one.  The platinum they use in China is a little softer than what we use in the US but I love the proportions and fit of this ring.  My emerald will be from SG and we will have them around the same time so it will be fun to compare…!

felixgirl2004 :  I love the head of your band. That helps the gem get more exposure to light. Your gem will be so sparkly!

angelwaye :  I was thinking about getting platinum since my wedding band will be platinum. Should I not get platinum for the emerald cut?

hm2012 :  How are you liking your emerald cut stone? It was hard to tell how the cut is in the pics that Tianyu posted.

felixgirl2004 :  yeah sorry for the poor pictures. I really like it. I always comment on the fact I got DEF color but its actually a nice warm color. Side view at times it looks warmer than face up, its pretty white. 1st pic is compared to E color radiant.

Hope you can tell more in these pics.

hm2012 :  That is gorgeous!!! The setting and the French cut band are from JuliaB, correct? I have been eyeing her French cut bands for awhile but the 8 week wait time is harsh. Your set is beautiful.

felixgirl2004 :  my preference is still for platinum, even from them.  The gold/platinum is purchased from the government so that it can be properly hallmarked and recognized around the world.  I was told early on that they use PT950 mixed with palladium but it could still contain other metals in the platinum group (iridium, ruthenium osmium and rhodium.  The platinum holds up well but I did notice some scratching.  This is part of why I make my rings a little thicker on the bottom and less so at the top for comforrt….after learning the hard way.  In the US, we use PT950/Ruthenium or PT900/Iridium which is harder than palladium. The ring will hold up but you will notice some scratches on the bottom after a few weeks. I still prefer the weight of platinum compared to gold even if it does show scratches.

My finished product is in my hands!

This is how it looks like under normal light,

Under bright intense light (with my proposal ring)

In shaded sunny day

So far, I’m not seeing the brilliant sparkle with fire on the ring as per what was shown in the video by Tianyu. Not sure if it’s because my centre piece is of a smaller size (5.5mm) or such.

xx50xx :  love the details on that ring with tulip prongs and melee!

I’m surprised you’re not seeing sparkle? I’d think a smaller stone would still pack a punch. Try shining it up with a sunshine cloth? I got a ring from a different vendor and the moissy stone was dull but it was better after I polished it.

How does the height work for you? I know you were concerned about that earlier.

xx50xx :  yeah that’s the one I use. I polish all my jewelry with it. Feels gritty on the hands after so wash well after and wipe the jewelry down with a lint free cloth. T-shirt works haha

xx50xx :  it’s beautiful! I love it, it looks very realistic. Mine seemed a little dull when I got it the second time round. I think it could’ve been oil from hands holding it or the plastic wrap touching it could leave a residue on it that dulled it. I washed mine in warm soapy water and wiped with a microfiber cloth and it was shiny again!
