Tanukiko :  Yes they do! If you look on the eBay thread, and there are 2 threads on PriceScope (one for Tianyu and one for StarsGem.) I think at least 2, if not 3 people have ordered them.

Hey Ladies, Question for you: Do you typically pay before they do the CAD? We’ve discussed what I want and I’ve been given the quote and she wants me to pay and then start the CAD. I was under the impression that you pay like $40 then do CAD and pay remainder after CAD is approved

mjay :  I can’t remember which bee is was that asked to pay for a CAD first before going forward with the ring.  That is the only person I have ever heard of doing that.  Everyone else has paid for the ring in total before they received the CAD.

I am not sure if they ordered through Tianyu or SG but you can always ask if you can just pay for the CAD first and see what they say.

lilredcat :  Are you able to post a few pics of your finished ring (sorry if you already did I can’t find them) I’m designing a similar ring but without the cathedral shank and a champagne mossy. I’d like to see the side profile of yours (for height). Also, what size is your stone?

mjay :  I think I’m the one who posted that I only pay for the CAD then approve and pay the rest if I like the CAD. I just didnt like the idea of paying for the whole ring 1st, possibly not liking it and then dealing with a refund if I decided to go somewhere else (not that refunds are hard with these companies) I have only worked with SG who originally asked for the whole project cost upfront…but if i remember correctly Tianyu only asked for the CAD cost. However, it seems like the norm is to pay the whole cost upfront. If you don’t want to do that, you can always ask not to. It didn’t seem like a big deal to SG.

I paid in full before I got the CAD. I sent them a ton of pictures, reached out and asked for help here & the on PC thread through the whole process before I signed off on anything. Keep working with them until each stage that requires your approval looks right to you. Make sure to get all measurements, reference back on this discussion and look at PC. Ask for edits on your CAD, and don’t sign off on it until it looks good to you. Communicate in pictures, be as descriptive as possible, mark up their drawing with edits. Ask for pics and video of the stones before setting, make sure you like it before you sign off & ditto the finished ring before you say ok, you consent to delivery. I asked for her to check ring size, she sent me a picture of the ring on a mandrel showing that it’s the right size.

I just got my DHL tracking # this morning. I’ll post pictures once I get the ring. Fingers crossed. ๐Ÿ˜‰

motherbee33 :  If you are ordering your ring from Tianyu and you want to make it easy on yourself, you can copy my CAD because I worked all this out.  The inspiration ring came off of a 3 carat stone although mine is closer to 3.75 but the height of the prongs still remains the same.  The cut-out’s are a bit softer to allow the stone to sit a little lower and a band can sit with minimal gap. It tapers very nicely and I changed the claw prongs to tab prongs so they don’t obscure the stone.  At least it might give you a place to start….

If you paid yesterday, it take 2-3 days and they will send the CAD depending on how busy they are.  I am not sure who you are dealing with but my rep was Ella.
