We just started looking into honeymoon destinations in hopes that booking early would get us more discounts but I’m not sure where to start. There are too many destinations to chose from. We’re looking for an all inclusive adults only resort that gives us the option of taking day trips by ferry to local islands. My fiance and I love the beach and relaxing by the pool but are also looking for a destination that is safe has some nightlife and shopping so we can get off the resort as well.
So far Barbados, St. Lucia, Anguilla have come up on our list of possibilities. ANyone been?
Please tell me about your all inclusive honeymoons to inspire me and any recommendations please post. Thanks!

@Beachy0404: If Jamaica is on your list, definitely look into Couples. I spent time at Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away, and it was incredible. I seriously doubt I could come up with a complaint even if I had to. They really are all about service and taking care of the customer. The beach is unmatched. I’ve been to 5 of the 7 continents, and probably around 25 beaches all around the world, and Jamaica is on par with places like Bali and Australia. Really, truly one-of-a-kind.

We are doing something a little different.
Temptations Resort & Spa in Cancun Mexico.
It’s adults-only and supports the ”lifestyle”. It’s for singles, couples, and swingers.
It offers a very risqué and sexy ambiance in a no-pressure way (I’ve been there once before).
They have adult-only games and shows as well ;), which we love. We are very open-minded and love fun sexy stuff (and no, we do not swing).
This resort is very close to the club zone and mayan pyraminds. Day excursions such as catamaran rides, etc are available as well.

We’re going to Couples Swept Away! We haven’t been yet, but their reviews are great and the prices are much better than most of the other places we looked at.

Another vote for couples. We stay at couples negril and it ruined us for wanting to ever go anywhere else.
They also just opened a Couples resort in Barbados and are offering deals on flights.
i love that Couples Negril is adult only and they really cater to couples. Most people that go to couples go every year or twice a year and have been there numerous times. That says a lot.
they have SO many inclusions its rediculous, as well as so many activities on the resort that you don’t really have to leave.
despite what people say, jamaica is pretty safe, it’s no worse then anywhere else. Just use common sense like you would anywhere. I have never not felt safe in Jamaica.
if you want to do excursions off the resort there are so many different ones to suit everyone’s taste.
what brings me back to couples is the level of service. It’s phenomenal and the staff are absolutely amazing.

@Beachy0404: cancun and the riviera maya have a lot of great adult only all-inclusives (sandals, secrets, exellence, etc) . the beaches are great and there’s a ton of nightlife (coco bongo / playa del carmen). you can take a short ferry ride to isla mujeres or to cozumel. there’s also a lot of culture, history and adventure excursions. we love it there.

@Beachy0404: we are going to Barbados for 7 nights all-inclusive. It has everything we want: great people, great food, great nightlife, beautiful scenery, and we can relax by the ocean or book tons of different excursions. Can’t beat it! Our resort is not couples only but the new Couples resort opens June 15th!

We are doing the Ocean Maya Royale very close to Playa del Carmen-it used to be a 3 star resort that they’ve upgraded to about 4 stars-we missed out on a RIDICULOUS deal to Catalonia Royal Tulum and Catalonia Playa Maroma through CheapCaribbean so we were a little scarred and decided to finally commit. Ocean Maya Royale is a little smaller than the uber-big resorts, which we liked, and no reservations are needed at the a la carte restaurants. We didn’t upgrade the room or anything because we will be spending time outside and off the resort. We could probably also have rented a gorgeous condo and done the whole trip even cheaper, but my husband has never stayed at an all-inclusive and wanted the experience. It was still a pretty good deal that we found on BookIt.
We toyed around with the idea of going to the Samana region of DR but neither of us could pass up the allure of diving Cozumel. I have been to Cancun before to an all-inclusive with my parents but don’t remember the name. My siblings went to Live Aqua the week before Thanksgiving after booking on CheapCaribbean and they said it was amazing.
Since we are the adventurous type, we’re renting our own car and driving around for excursions etc. I’m beyond excited. We plan to go out to the Chichen ruins, Valladolid and Cenote Dzitnup one day, go diving in Cozumel another day, drive down to Akumal and Tulum another day and Xplor at one point.

Thank you for all of your recommendations! We originally didn’t want to go to Mexico, Jamaica, or DR but now we may be considering it. Those destinations seem to have the most AI options and more positive reviews then some of the others.
Anyone been to Sandals Antigua?
Please keep your suggestions coming! Thanks!

@Beachy0404: We didn’t want to go to Mexico or DR either because we’ve already been several times, but we decided on Excellence Playa Mujeres because it was more than half the cost of other destinations, has 5-star amenities, and incredible reviews from other travelers. To be honest, I am going to be so exhausted after planning this wedding & I don’t really want to plan a honeymoon too! So we will just be beach bums & plan to save for other awesome trips in the future! Good luck 🙂

@Beachy0404: After a LOT of research (we weren’t originally on the AI, Caribbean boat), we just booked Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia, which IMO is the “middle” of the 3 Sandals properties in St. Lucia. We liked the room/building layouts better here than at the Grande & thought Halycon was a little too small/quiet for us. But, we get to use all three properties to eat/play. Our TA actually said La Toc is the property she books the most in St Lucia & her favorite.
The price wasn’t actually too terrible. I think we’re paying like $5400 for 7 nights in a butler, two-story verandah? Sandals is ALWAYS on sale. When we booked, we received a free night if we stayed 6, $335 airfare credit & $240 spa credit. We MAY add an 8th night on depending on how airfare looks when it comes out. If we do that, we may cut Sandals short a night & spend 2 nights at Ladera at the end of our trip.
There are tons of nice hotels in St. Lucia, but it seems Sandals was the best REAL AI that was adults only. There are some other AI’s that are child-friendly, but my Fiance and I weren’t interested in that. Places like Ladera, Jade Mountain and Sugar Beach (all on the top of our list) aren’t really AI’s — you can add a meal plan and they include some watersports, but if you really want everything included (food, drinks, activities) in St. Lucia, check out the 3 Sandals properties.

@Beachy0404: I have been to sandals Antigua! I loved it! Close to airport, romantic. It’s on the smaller side but that’s why I loved it. The Mediterranean side is more modern. We stayed on the otherside. I forget what they called it but its more lush, more tropically. They have these huts right on the beach that looked awseome. I’m sure expensive too. You can walk from one side to the other. No transportation needed like other resorts.

@Koko1977: Did they have a dress code for men at the restaurants? My fiance get hot easily and I’m afraid he won’t be happy if he has to wear pants to dinner every night.

@MsAmandaAnn: Thank you! We were originally looking at Sandals in St. Lucia and were actually very close to booking when I read a bunch of negative reviews so we’re thinking St. Lucia is off our list now 🙁
