@Beachy0404:  As someone who travels a lot, let me just say: take reviews with a grain of salt.  I read everythingggg.  Every review, good and bad before deciding.  Some people complain about the most assanine things (OMG!  There were mosquitos!  Well, uh, yeah, you’re in tropics in very lush surroundings).  We almost let a few negative reviews sway us, mainly regarding the food, but in the end we booked Sandals.

I will say though that St Lucia isn’t for everyone.  If you want turqouise waters and white sandy beaches, it’s probably not going to fit your ideal.  St Lucia is very green, very tropical, very mountainous — we will probably spend more time diving/hiking/doing water sports than we will lounging around.  😉  Good luck with wherever you choose!  I think it really depends on what you envision doing on your honeymoon.  🙂

I have been to Couples before and absolutely loved the experience.

We wanted to try something new for the honeymoon, so we are leaving Sunday for a week at the Valentin Imperial Maya in the Mayan Riviera. I booked it based on a good price and great reviews. They also have a Facebook page, which is very helpful for getting information from people who have stayed there before. Of course, I will be able to provide more info when we get back.

I always thought I wanted to do a Sandals for our honeymoon, but I went to Sandals Antigua in September last year and honestly, I was so unimpressed. For the cost, I expected it to be top of the line. It was mediocre.

http://www.nowresorts.com/larimar/ For our honeymoon we stayed at the NowLarimar in Punta Cana. We booked through Apple Vacations for 7 days/7nights and it was about $3k for both including airfare. WAY cheaper than Sandals (I think when I went it was like, $3k a PERSON), and in my personal experience, the service was 100x more professional and friendly than at Sandals.

We went to the RIU PALACE in Costa Rica. The resort just opened in Dec 2012 and was absolutely amazing! It was not adults only, but there were no kids there. Everything was top notch.

@Beachy0404:  We are going to Sandals Negril in Jamaica. It’s pricey, but you get food, booze, activities, free shuttle service to all of the other Sandals resorts (so you can go to Ocho Rios for the day or something)…we also hired the butler service! They will schedule our dinner or activity reservations, bring us breakfast, unpack our things, meet us from trips with champagne, basically do anything. They train in England, and Fiance is SOOOOOOOOOOO excited about it. We know another couple who went there on their honeymoon and they can’t say enough good things about the experience (they also got the butler).

We chose Negril, btw, because we wanted the beach and the far away from the nightlife scene so it could be more intimate. Also, we read reviews about it but we didn’t find any real negative ones for Negril, everyone raved out it!
