I’ll let you know! Mine left Moissaniteco yesterday and left Memphis this afternoon on it’s way to me!

Moissanite are a lot less brittle than diamonds and so are unlikely to chip.  They are actually quite a bit stronger than diamonds, if not as hard.

If you get the Mira, you won’t see any yellow or green, especially if you get a cushion or round cut.  The color grade for Mira is similar to a fairly high quality diamond.  I have an unenhanced 1.8 ct cushion set to highlight the yellow color and the stupid thing is stubbornly very very white, excepting overcast days when it’s a lovely gold color.  This probably won’t happen with a Mira (Amora was the old name but there was a copyright thing, so now it’s Mira) and also probably would not happen if I did not set it the way that I did.  I don’t think green has been an issue for a while if you purchase through C&C–mostly just yellow, which the Mira addresses.

I can tell the difference if I am comparing stones side by side but I also stare at a moissanite all day and know what I am looking for.  People refer to it as a diamond frequently–I am proud of my choice so I correct them.  Moissanites tend to be a bit sparklier and also tend to pick up colors around them–so if I’m wearing purple, I will see a lot of purple sparkles in the rainbow of sparkles.  Diamonds tend to have this white base to the sparkle that moissanites don’t have.  It’s hard to describe but I can see it.  My diamond sporting friends could not.

I think that you would probably be ok–women pass moissanite off as diamond all the time.  If you purchase a loose stone through moissaniteco.com, you can return it if you don’t like it.

And obligatory pic.  😀

Thank you!  I love it a lot.  I’d also suggest heading to the moissanite and Mira boards on betterthandiamond.com–they have a ton of information about moissanite and mira and a squillion pics and videos.  moissaniteco.com also has videos of moissanites in settings and their customer service is usually very good–you can talk to them about what you’re looking for and they can make it happen.

@zomgwut:  They USED to be Mira and are now Amora, not the other way around 😉 I don’t have one, but thought I would point this out so people who are looking into it would know what to loom for.

I have a 1.5ct enhanced moissanite! I love it! Sometimes in certain light (especially in the car for some reason) it looks a little warm/yellow but it never ever has any green tint. Most of the time it looks very white. Mine is the old kind of enhanced, the new Amoras are actually rated at H colour, and that is about the same colour most people’s diamonds are.

I’ve seen my ring next to lots of diamonds and they look very similar. The only real way to tell them apart is the cut, as moissy is cut slightly differently than a diamond is.  to 95% of people, it will look just like a diamond. Not one person has ever questioned me whether or not it is a diamond. They’ve all just assumed it is one.

Also, moissanite is actually less likely to chip than a diamond. I’ve had mine for a year now and I have accidentally smashed it against rough things (including a brick wall) and it doesn’t have a scratch on it.

Here is a picture and a recent video of mine!

Sigh DBD, I love that ring of yours so darn much.  I am always so happy when I see you post pics of it :-).  I’m actually hoping to get something along the same lines–loving the yellow gold these days.  You’ve sold me time and again!
