Yes! They’ll go back to normal. I couldn’t wear any of my rings from weeks 34+, a few months after having the baby I could wear them again without any issues.

Yep!  It happened to me the day I went into labor.  I thought I was going to escape it but my body had other plans. Lol.  They went back to normal pretty quickly.

I remember asking my mom when I was a month postpartum if my hands will go back to normal. They eventually did!

It took about 4-5 months after having the baby til they finally went back to normal in my case. It’s very common!

fridakahlo :  mine swell all summer anyway, so I couldn’t wear them from about April to late October this year because of baby. Get a nice chain and hang them on your neck. They get less in the way there anyway, so I guess consider it a perk?  I was happy to get them on my hand again but it happens yearly regardless of whether I’m pregnant or not.

Yes don’t worry your fingers go back down after pregnancy sooner or later! I couldn’t wear my wedding ring for months post-birth, but it fits again now, since my son was 9-10 months. But I’m sure plenty of people can wear their rings sooner than that 😊 It freaked me out too, although I put on a decent amount of weight so that probably didn’t help!

I was able to wear my rings up until the last couple weeks. By four or five months postpartum I could fit them on again most days, and we’re at 9 months now and they fit unless my hands are really warm.

next baby, I’m going to buy some inexpensive pretty ring from a consignment shop or something to wear once mine don’t fit anymore!

Yes, they will go back to normal!  I worried about this too. I wore my rings up until I was about 36 weeks and then they were so bloody tight that I had trouble getting them on and off and it was so painful that I finally had to go without them. I had to get a bigger size ring (just a cheap band) to wear to the hospital when I gave birth.  My fingers went back to normal about a week after I gave birth and I was able to put my rings on again for our newborn photo shoot when baby was 10 days old.

My fingers didn’t get bigger during pregnancy that I noticed (but I took off my rings about a month before I was due just to be sure they wouldn’t get stuck!) but actually after I found they were smaller… like my rings still fit but they were definitely a little looser for a while. By about a year they were more of less the same.

Ahem. Odd one out here to say that hand swelling and pain could be caused by an underlying issue like autoimmune disease. I was brushed off by my OB and only after many more doctors and tests finally diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis 5 yes later. Keep an eye on it and if it doesn’t get better after birth start seeking more help.

Also keep in mind that excessive swelling can also be a sign of preeclampsia.
