I watch it. It reminds me so much of when I was in dance as a little girl. Our dance instructor was seemingly out of shape (but she could still dance). They also had this one girl that was the “favorite” and got all the solo and good parts. They had moms that didnt like each other or the instructor..IM starting to wonder if ALL dance comapnies are like this!! lol

I am utterly obsessed with this show and Pretty Little Liars….Dance Moms though has such a special place in my heart.

I was an actress/dancer/singer in NYC for about 7 years and this show just cracks me up. Abby is insane but I dunno, I think most of this show is edited and one for the camera….the older Mom, the one who runs Candy Apple Dance Studio–she’s got to be hired…..and her poor child? Is she adopted? She clearly hates dancing…like hates it.

I watch this show On Demand at 3am when I am nursing my newborn son…very entertaining!

I can’t stand Cathy and I hope she is really gone for good next week. Viv-Ann seems like she could care less about dancing and just goes because her mom wants her to be there.

Holly was totally right to stand up for the solo choces for Nia. Glad to see Nia win first on her solo, but it almost reinforces Abbey’s reasons for putting her in very stereotypcial dances.

Oh and poor Brooke- how embarassing to be 13 years old and forced to go on a date with a boy and your moms.

Maddie was making me a little crazy this week- someone needs to teach her how to be a gracious winner and loser.  The watermelon game in the pool and the fake crying was ridic.

As you can see…I am totally addicted!!

This show is my new addiction!

I love Chloe and I feel so bad for her always being in Maddie’s shadow. I hope she gets her chance to shine. I think they are equally talented dancers.

Cathy drives me INSANE. Can’t stand her. Hope she’s gone for good! Vivi clearly doesn’t want to dance and I think Cathy is a little in her own world about her talent.

I like all of the other moms and they just entertain me so much with their bickering. I also actually really like Abby – she’s tough, but she doesn’t sugarcoat it. I like that. She does clearly favor Maddie, but you do what you need to do to win, right?

I really hope this show continues for a few seasons. I’m really obsessed.

I will say that while Abby is so dramatic….she had a point about Nia knowing her “type.” Also, Nia doesn’t have the ballet training that the other girls do so, no…she wouldn’t really be able to win with a lyrical dance number. If she went to ballet class several times I week I bet she would though.

If Nia was 15 and really thinking about going to college/NYC/LA for dance than I could see Holly standing up to Abby but I dunno, I thought it was a little much. Again, being able to tumble and flip like she does though AND have that spunky personality, I bet Nia would work as a professional dancer if she wanted to when she got older.

Regardless…I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!

PS. Maddie does need to learn how to lose…but she is only 7 🙂 I remember being in competition dance at 13 and losing to a friend/neighbor and literally thinking the world was ending….so glad I learned that at an early age…made living in NYC auditioning easier to handle.

@Cheesy Potatoes: Not to threadjack, but did your screen name come from the show Strange Addictions? Please say yes 🙂

Ahhh I love it!  The dance studio is actually really close to my house and my older brother took dance lessons from Abby and her mother when he was younger.  It was so weird to watch!

*slowly and shamefully raises hand*

Didn’t watch this week, I probably will tonight since I have time. During Irene, 3 episodes recorded and I sat and ate M&M’s for 3 hours while watching this show. It was serious heaven. Crazy people! I grew up in a gym (was a gymnast) and saw similar crap all the time. It was facinating to me.

I watch it when I’m at the gym. This and then Roseanne’s Nuts come on. I love them both for very different reasons.

I was a classically trained dancer and competed for almost 18 years so I easily identify. And although this sounds crazy, my parents remind me of Roseanne. LOL

Maddie has serious natural talent and she gives me chills when I see her dance. That kind of talent is so rare, and there is no denying it. If she sticks with it long enough, I have no doubt she would be the one out of all of them to make it.

Cathy definately is only there for TV time. What is the name of her studio? I have been meaning to google it and see what it is all about. This woman seems as though she has no idea what is going on in the dance world and just “owns” a studio so she can put glitter everywhere.

I think it’s probably hard for parents to deal with coaches/teachers like Abby, because they are tough, but they have been around so long and have seen so much that they just instinctively know how to get a kid to Broadway, etc. I used to see it in the gym, too, parents fighting with coaches that knew the way to gets kids where they want to be. In the end, it just hurts the child. Abby might be forceful and a little nuts, but she knows.what.she.is.doing.

I am completely addicted to this show.

I get that these kids have to practice around the clock to make it as professional dancers and all that, but when do they go to school? In this week’s eisode Nia didn’t even know the meaning of the word heritage …. that really bothered me. Especially since her mom is on her high horse about her phd and her 100k a year private school tuition.
