Mrs.Bill:  I have green eyes with central heterochromia too!  Does your whole family have the same color?  OP, I agree with Mrs.Bill’s description 🙂  Lovely eyes all around!

missinthecity:  My father has hazel eyes and my mother had blue eyes. I ended up having green eyes with central heterochromia and my husband has blue/grey eyes. My oldest son has the same colour that I do and my two youngest boys have green eyes that sometimes look aqua depending on the light. There seems to be some confusion as to what colour hazel is so here are a couple of pics:

Here are eyes that qualify as hazel because that golden colour permeates most of the iris:

Hazel is a golden colour that is much lighter than light brown and can have blue and green tones but still read as overall golden because it is hard to pick out those colours in the iris – it’s more mottled if that makes any sense. Individuals with central heterochromia are mistakenly identified as having hazel eyes because of that golden shade around the pupil which can make the eyes appear to have an overall golden hue. However, on closer examination, it becomes clear that the golden shade is only around the pupil and the rest of the iris is a different colour.

Green eye with central heterochromia:

Just for fun, an eye with segmental heterochromia:

Mrs.Bill:  Thank you for all of this!! I have green with a central heterochromia and constantly hear I have hazel eyes even though the green is very obvious!!

Mrs.Bill: That’s so interesting! Both my parents have green eyes with heterochromia, my brother and I have it, and my sister has brown/hazel eyes. My Fiance has green/blue/grey/amber eyes (he calls them hazel) so I’m interested to see what color our future kids will end up with 🙂

1) Debatable haha

2) Blue

3) Green — I have this color too and heard “hazel” for a long time, but eye docs and governmentt agencies alike have called it green, and that’s what I call it!

Mrs.Bill:  Neat and informative! Thanks for sharing.

1 Hazel 2 Blue 3 Green, but I am leaning towards hazel for 3 too…looks like it could be 2 colors making it hazel…
