I voted. Great idea.

5 is a reasonable number. If a bee goes over that, that’s just a part of life. I think this allows a bee some control over their posts without the issue of favoritism.

I dunno about this policy.  Just that there seemed to be a complete breakdown in the entire process this weekend.  I realize that it was an anomoly, due to mods being out of town/unavailable, but unless they can figure out a way so that they can program it automatically… seems like a lot more work.

Also, what if i really really want that sixth post deleted? I do not in anyway agree that the posts that were deleted from the weekend should be deleted

@HisIrishPrincess:  Re: “what if I really, really want that 6th post deleted”.. I think the point of JulesSchnooks proposal is that many users would like the ability to delete certain threads, but understand that the policy cannot just be changed carte blanche. It gives the user a little breathing room, it allows the admins/mods to maintain the integrity of the site. And if there’s a little wiggle room with deleting things (i.e. deletion allowance = 5) then the user has to just be careful not to go overboard on sensitive posts, thereby wanting the 6th post to be deleted.

I think it should be 5 threads or posts because bees might have just made a post that they would like to have deleted, and the entire thread does not necessarily need to be deleted in that case.

@star_dust:  I understood what she meant.  😀

I’m just thinking that this could get out of hand.  How far back can you go? Do each of your avi’s get 5 or just your main one?

@HisIrishPrincess:  You can only have one account. More than that is against the TOS! So, you can deal with that separately.

Something has to happen- they brought this on themselves. Whatever the reason, there are threads that aren’t even available on google cache anymore (P.S. that only happens if you contact google, so someone had to).

We deserve the same leeway…

Yes!  Saw Penguin’s post on the other thread saying this “If a thread, or series of threads, leads to the direct exposure of your name, address, place of employment, and any other information that you have not willfully provided already on site, and it has been demonstrated that what you have posted has lead to your information being exposed against your will, we make necessary deletions.”  A thread I posted led to someone else recognizing my name, I asked to have the thread deleted.  No dice.  This policy is terrible!

@HisIrishPrincess:  I’m going to copy paste something I wrote yesterday since it’s pretty clear this accusation is being directed at me right now:

Question Time.

Penguin asked the moderation and hostess team specifically to stay out of this, but since my name has been thrown out there and I’m being accused of a “cover up”, I feel that I need to interject. I’ll only be posting once. Penguin already made it clear that any deletions were at her discretion and decision. I had nothing to do with it despite what many of you hypothesize. I do not have any friendships off this site with any members, with the exception of one former bee who has since moved countries and no longer is an active member in any case. I have attended two meet ups and I have given a ride home to a bee once rather than have her take transit home by herself alone for three hours. I would do that for anyone. I’ve said my piece because at this point I feel the need to stand up for myself and “clear my name” if you will. It’s the honest truth and if you choose to believe otherwise that’s your own perogative.

Also from Penguin:

Question Time.

Hi all – First off we, as admin of the site, have made it very clear to our volunteer moderators to not engage with this thread, and similar threads. The idea that any of our moderators are “ignoring” these threads is completely false. The activity within this thread goes far beyond what we would ever expect our team of moderators to handle. I sound like a completely broken record here but I am traveling on business and have unfortunately had extremely limited time to process and respond to everything that is happening here. I completely agree that timelier responses are ideal but we are stuck in between a rock and a hard place here – I’m taking care of the highest levels of moderation on my own, and I’m not completely available this weekend. As we clear a budget for another team member on the moderation side, this extreme gap in moderation should not occur.

The prevailing question in this thread is “why were threads deleted?” I want to make it very clear, that deletions that occured regarding this issue WERE NOT handled by our moderation team – they were handled by admin directly. From here on out, I will ask that everyone please refrain referring to actions regarding this issue as “an issue with the mods” – I chose a course of action (deletions) that, as an administrator of this site, felt was appropriate in regards to issues involving significant breaches of privacy, of a member here on the boards. It is not appropriate for me to discuss the nitty gritty details here, as I have never discussed other details of threads that have been removed off the site with our community at large.

I want to reiterate as I did in an earlier thread, that, while extremely rarely, threads, links, pictures, and information removed off of this site when clear evidence of direct harm, intent to harm, or significant breaches of privacy are presented. Most often they do not go noticed, because after they are taken care of we do not, in turn, inform the community at large that information has been removed.

Threads are NEVER removed by anyone on our moderation team. Any thread removals are executed by administration.

***I deserve to be able to defend myself from false accusations. I will repeat, I am not and have not been friends with this person unlike you all believe me to be. I have met her twice in my life. I’m not even FB friends with her for goodness sakes. I have not deleted any threads for anyone that do not meet deletion criteria. Believe what you will, but I have no reason to lie, and quite frankly I’m sick of lies and rumours being spread about me. That’s all I have to say about that.
