Hard decision. I like the last three: Jim and Gina, Tea Olive, and Twin Hearts. However, Twin Hearts is more my style. Plus all their prices are similiar. I don’t personally care for Connolly nor Famous Williams photography style.

I agree…they’re all very gimmicky. I’m really not a fan of that faux-vintage photo editing. I think a lot of photographers use trendy photo editing to hide that they have trouble with exposure in certain lighting.

Twin Hearts is the most bang for your buck. They seem to catch great “people” moments more so than the others.

If you have $5,000 to spend, Connelly was very nice and consistently great quality. They do focus a lot on details and in general have less romantic poses or “cute” poses.

@dancindavinci:  Be careful with that, as most photographers have an exclusivity clause in their contract that will void the contract if you hire another photographer for the same wedding. You’re better off hiring a second through the main photographer so that you know they will work well together.

@CelticBeachBride:  I agree. The dependance on “actions” or “presets” always sends up a red flag for me.

@dancindavinci:  Those last two are both awesome! I like them a lot more than those in the poll actually. They both seem to do a wonderful job with candid shots, incorperate scenery very well to give a sweet earthy feel to their images and keep the faces nice and sharply focused.

I can’t believe twin hearts is in the lead on the poll. The photos themselves aren’t artistic at all And that photographer has no idea what she’s doing with that flash in the reception photos. You want photos that are artistic on the ground level. And I bet if you ask a photographer who typically process their photos in a clean style to deliver a few with that other processing as well they can do it no problem. That look is nothing more than a cheap photoshop action and any pro you hire is going to know how to do it, most of the good ones just choose not to because they know its a trend what will go out of style in no time.

Dag, none of the new photographers you posted know how to white balance a photo. Karen has some really red skin tones, Jade and Mathew have either green or dead skin and again with the processing on some of these. The other photographer is doing that desaturated look with no true blacks etc. I have to go back and look at the first set of choices when I get a minute. I don’t want to leave you without a better suggestion. Off the Top of my head I think Mark Turner  services that area but I haven’t looked at his work in a while.

Eta: save the skin tones, I do like Karen’s work.

@dancindavinci:  Out of those three, I 1st like Karen Buckle and 2nd Jade/Matthew. The more you keep looking the more confused you will be. It ultimately depends on your preference b/c what responders to your post are choosing is based on what “we” like. Good luck…I think you have done well narrowing down your choices. I have a limited budget (preferably less than $2000) that I am willing to spend on any photographer, this gives me fewer options. Which also makes my decision easier. You may have to narrow it down based on price, quality for the price, and personality of photographer, or something else that you desire. Maybe create a little spread sheet to compare.
