I need some help (therapy) in choosing my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, then which shirt you would choose. A little background: I am wearing a lace sweatheart neck watters and watters dress (white), the guys are wearing black suits, a wishbone tie, and black converse low tops. Seven BMs, all size 4, and they don’t care what I chose (although I’m taking the two local ones to try some of these dresses on). The ceremony is at a historical mansion – not done up; kind of shabby chic 🙂 Ceremony is outside in wooded area; coktails beneath a sleepy hollow tree, indoor reception. It’s whimsy; like a moden day tea party in October. Colors are blue (sky, teal, patina), green (meadow), pinkish champagne/blush, and black (accent).
Mosaic of Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, men’s suits, ties (they come in other colors), shirts, and Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses attached. Since I have several BMs, I could choose two colors in the same family (green and blue?)
What would you choose?

I like the tea-length dresses. They all seem pretty, but hard to choose because the pictures don’t have a lot of detail.
Your wedding sounds gorgeous!

@tatrifon: thank you!
Ooh you are right. I uploaded most of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress photos so you can get a better sense. I *love* the fresco and rosewater colors but I think it’s challenging to have it as the primary color and work in blue and green details. On the other hand, I guess you can do whatever you want (i just don’t know what that is!) Also concerned that the pink may be too light for October. Not sure.

With seven bridesmaids, I think you could even choose 3 colors if you wanted! Maybe have your bridesmaids in the blues and greens and your Maid/Matron of Honor in the fresco or rosewater, then just go with very simple ivory bouquets as a common element. My girls were just given paint swatches in 3 shades of green (I just didn’t want the Bridesmaid dress stress! I have enough stress planning a wedding and dealing with a class of second graders every day!) and are buying their own dresses, but I told my sister (MOH) that she can get a green, platinum or champagne dress if she wants to stand apart a little.
I agree with tatrifon – sounds gorgeous! I think all of the colors go well enough together that you can do whatever combination you decide and avoid it looking piecemeal, but also avoid matchy-matchy. 🙂

thank you! I am going Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping tomorrow – and hoping that it is a one day deal. The girls love all of the dresses but like the idea of long for fall (east coast wedding).
I love the idea of having my Maid/Matron of Honor in a third color! She’s trying to get pregnant so we’re leaving her dress until later anyhow.
Will try to post photos tomorrow!

How did the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping end up going for you? When you saw things in person did it make your decision easier?

I’ll second the long dress idea for Fall. We’re getting married in October too & if I were having bridesmaids– which actually I might cave & end up going with– I’d choose a long dress.
Your wedding sounds wonderful 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you chose!

So pretty! With 7 BMs you have tons of options. I think you should have them all pick different shades of blue. Those really popped out at me. The pink might be too light, and there’s only one green so it might look weird if you have all nice blue shades and then a green.
I wanted my BMs to all wear different dresses, but they insisted on wearing the same b/c they want to LOOK like BMs and not like a dressed-up guest. They wanted to be able to be picked out of a crowd as BMs.
Our wedding is also in October. My Maid/Matron of Honor just told me she’ll be 8 months pregnant at the wedding. That’s a good idea you have to wait to get her dress.
GL with your choice. Do you have a blog or a bio? I’d love to see what other ideas you have planned. I just love your color scheme!!
