So. I’m starting to have second guesses about my wedding colors. Is plum (dark purple) too dark for a summer daytime wedding? The theme I guess you could say we’re going for is our colors with lovebird elements ( birdcage centerpieces (filled with DIY decorative balls), on the cake, the guestbook favors, etc) I was going to use different shades in the decor to add interest.
We are thinking about the ceremony around 10 am (full Catholic Mass) and then a psuedo casual BBQ reception (sans burgers and dogs. think more pulled pork) at my uncle’s house ending around 5 maybe 6 o’clock.
I wanted the plum because it is the closest color to our school’s, where we met and grey goes better for a summer wedding. (My Fiance refuses to wear light grey, so he and the groomsmen will be in charcoal.) They’ll have the plum ties. My junior bridesmaid/ring bearer will be in David’s Bridal’s wisteria color (hopefully) and the flower girls in a shade of grey. All with a plum sash if it looks ok.
The baby/powder blue is an attempt to lighten things up. It’ll mostly be in centerpieces and the bouquets.
Is that too dark of a color scheme for the beginning of summer?

@11mikesgirl21:
I had a fall wedding and my colors seemed close to yours!
If it matches your venue go for it!
Mine clashed awfully!

@alishaloo: We’re steering away from decorating the church. We both don’t find it necessary. And my venue is in and outside my uncle’s home. So it’s all kind of a blank slate.
I guess I’m trying to match the season more than anything. Since summer is supposed to be bright and everything.

@11mikesgirl21: Besides that it should look great.
ours didn’t end up being oh so bad.. it just could have been better and the no 1 thing I would re do if I could would have been my colors… because of that reason. not because i didn’t like my colors cause they looked beautiful in other ways
