I’m planning to get my bridesmaids matching robes to get ready in for the morning of. I’ve noticed that the plum pretty sugar robes seem to be the pinnacle of fancy-pants morning-of attire…positive reviews, lots of publicity, etc.
There are equally attractive options on etsy (at least, in appearance)
The vendor names are SunsettoSunrise, ComfyClothing and Silkandmore
Does anyone have any experience with these vendors? I’m worried that the fabric will be quite thin, but then again, I’ve heard that the fabric from Plum can be quite thin as well. The Plum robes are literally $600 more than the robes from etsy….a tough pill to swallow.

I bought the Plum Pretty Sugar ones. I really loved them for the pattern, which I wasn’t able to find anybody else could replicate. I can’t compare them with the cheaper ones, becuase I haven’t seen those, but I will say that I haven’t been overly impressed with the quality of PPS. They are thinner than I expected, and there isn’t a latch or tie inside to help the robe stay put. They’re still gorgeous robes, but since they were 3x the price of Etsy versions, I definitly expected more.

@ilovegreenbeans: Thanks to another thread I ended up buying mine from someone I hadn’t found before by searching… Singing Slowly https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/SingingSlowly
I haven’t received my robes yet but I like that they’re made to standard sizes rather than one-size-fits-all (I’m a 12 on the edge of 14, another is 14 and one is 18 – Aussie sizes) and can be made with lining, and some really nice patterns too.
This is what I’ve gone with – pink for me, blue for my bridesmaids

@ilovegreenbeans: I bought my bridesmaids robes from Sunsettosunrise for $25 a piece and I am very happy with them! No wedding yet so haven’t seen them in action but I think they are a bit thin in direct sunlight. Most of my friends always wear something underneath anyway so it’s not an issue. In other people’s pictures on Etsy I never see any of the robes looking see through on the big day. I plan to order a more sheer kaftan for myself but I’m a bit naughty and dont mind a little undie peeking out lol

To be honest, I think the whole “matching robes” to get ready thing is a little silly. I would likely not wear the robe again (I already have two that I wear, and that’s enough for me), and I think they’re very expensive for a one-time-use thing.
If you decide to go for them, I would avoid paying $600 for robes.

I got mine from the Wedding Prep Gals. They had really fast service, and I’m happy with how the robes turned out. They are also very affordable! I ordered mine in white and I don’t feel like I’m going to have any issues with it being see-through. I just tried it on over some bright colored bras and unless you pull the robe really really tight onto your back you can’t really see anything.

You know what I did?
I just bought mine from Kohl’s.
One White, four Navy Blue. They’re very soft jersey cotton – really great lounge robes. The Navy was a color I figured the girls would wear again if they liked the robe enough.
I figure with my white robe (I don’t really wear white) I can dip-dye it after the wedding to make it something I’d actually want to wear (since it’s cotton).
Kohl’s has a few kind of robes in different price ranges (and I bet they’ll go on sale right before/after V-day), so if you’re thinking about PPS, maybe Kohl’s have a nice, good-quality robe below or around that per person price range.
The robes I ordered arrived in a FLASH, I was able to use coupon codes (wait for a sale! Search for coupons! AND you can use up to 2 coupon codes on their website in one order!) PLUS I got “Kohl’s Cash” to spend the next week… I spent that on new bathing suits for our honeymoon!

@abbie017: see, this was my fear. One of my bridesmaids *suggested* the matching robes when I was asking her for advice on wha to do for the girls, but I’m not sure how enthusiastic a couple of the other girls will be. Now I’m super torn, so I’ve created a poll in a new thread. Thanks for being honest, i really appreciate it.
@CakeyP: This was actually one of my other ideas. I had seen some gorgeous robes from like…Restoration Hardware or something that were actually on sale, really thick and looked like something we’d all use again (most of us live in fairly cold climates a lot of the time). Do you remember about how much you paid for yours?
@chiickadee: and see, this was my fear. I loved the look of the PPS ones, but I read a review (not on their website) that said a.) PPS edits reviews to make sure they all appear complementary and b.) her experience was that the robes were tissue like and totally not worth the cost. UGHHHHHH.
Thank you all for the wonderful feedback. Head over to my thread for the poll that all my perseverating has birthed!

@ilovegreenbeans: Hello! I have seen a bunch of threads like this started and I CAN NOT Believe that out of the 100’s of bee’s on this site right now that No ONE has bought from either Comfy Cottons or Silk and More…
I read the reviews as well…Seems like the silk ones may be really thin.
Come on Bee’s theres got to be someone that has ordered robes from either of those stores. They are like the most popular ones on the site.
Please tell us how they turned out or if you thought they were too thin

@ilovegreenbeans: Yes, I do – because I only bought them last week!
I paid about $30 per robe, and managed to get enough coupon codes in there (they were having a weekend sale, plus I used a coupon code for an order over $100) to get one robe essentially for free (and free shipping!).
The robes were at my door about 4 days later (which was a HUGE thing for me – my wedding is 2.5 weeks away!!) and I just hung them up on hangers to help the wrinkles get out (will stick them in the dryer is all else fails).
They have nicer, more expensive robes there as well, I just ordered the kind I wanted (I REALLY wanted a soft jersey robe) at the lowest price. I liked Kohl’s because they had similar prices to the Etsy/PPS/etc. stores I was looking at, but offered tons of opportunities for coupon codes (and really, the two-at-once coupon thing sold me, along with my time crunch not allowing me to shop around for weeks and weeks)
If I had time, I’d look into getting them monogrammed or embroidered somewhere!
But I DON’T hahaha

Not going to lie.. I bought super fluffy, super cheap robes from a box store. Purple for the bridemaids and white for me. Cost less than $30 and they are totally re-wearable loungwear.

@springbride23: what is a box store? thanks for the info!!

I honestly love my Plum Pretty Sugar robe! My BMs loved their gifts and the getting ready photos were truly ones that I cherish. The PPS floral patterns are gorgeous. They actually came out with two new collections since I’ve purchased, one with BHLDN and another more French-inspired prints…so pretty!!

I bought mine from SilkandMore! And I really like them! They are a soft, fairly thin cotton, but not see-through. There are a bout a gazillion colors and patterns, and she was really good about customizing each one to fit each girl (you give size and height when you order). They arrived really quickly and came in a cute bag with a handwritten note. So, I think for the money, well worth it. They’re not super high quality but I think they’re definitely worth what you pay for them.

Silkandmore has ABYSMAL customer service. I contacted the Seller multiple times about my concern that the robes would not arrive in time, and received one-line, noncommittal answers.
I ordered the robes 14 weeks in advance. Her site lists the average turn around between 6-7 weeks, which wasn’t even close. I received the robes the DAY before my wedding. My in-laws had to delay their travel plans to wait for the package.
She goes by your wedding date, not when she received your order. So that means that someone can order after you, and they will get processed first if their wedding date is before yours. This punishes those of us who ordered early. I should have lied and said my wedding date was way earlier.
The uncertainly of the robes arrival added stress to an already stressful week. I should not have been worrying about this the day before our wedding. There are so many options for adorable robes. I cannot, in ANY way, recommend working with Shikha. Find another seller!
