Are you in Madison?  I shopped at three stores and found they all had large samples. I did David’s Bridal, Vera’s, and Moments to Cherish.  I found my dress at Moments to Cherish.  I think Vera’s probably had more total larger samples.  Davids was nice in that they had samples in every size, not just one larger size.   I didn’t shop there for my gown, but I have heard that Brandi’s in Mt Horeb has a good selection of sizes, although we did not find that to be the case for bridesmaids dresses.

Brandi’s in New Glarus (25 minutes from Madison) is where I got mine. Had probably 50 or so dresses in plus sizes (ranging from 18-26). But don’t worry, I’m a size 24 and the consultant worked some magic and was getting me into size 18 dresses, one of which was THE dress. There’s also an Alfred Angelo store near (I think) La Crosse, didn’t go but I’ve heard good things about them and that they offer a good plus size selection.

I also got my dress at brandis.  I would suggest going other places first as they will give you a 10 percent discount ify you buy the first day so it makes sense to be ready to buy.  i was a bridal 16/18 and found dresses at veras, brides and belles in reedsburg and brandis.  I also went to a place in fitchburg, one in johnson creek, one in baraboo and a few sample stores in chicago.  I also really loved Marahs in mt horeb but their plus size selection is lacking but it is a cute shope with the sweetest sister team that own it.

if youdont find anything you like there are 2 plus size boutiques in the twin cities and another one in indiana.  If i hadnt felt pressured to make a decision

I may have gone up there…buti didnt have time.  I wanted a lace dress with rouching and i only found 2 total at all those stores…but partly because i only wanted to try on dresses that fit.

best of luck!

If you feel like taking a bit of a road trip, The Wedding Shoppe Inc has their brick and mortar store in St. Paul. It’s based in several houses and one of the houses is devoted to their plus sized section. It was nice a quiet when I tried on dresses over there compared to the main salon. We had the whole area to ourselves.

If you are up for a drive, try Miss Pamela’s in Rochester IN.  I drove from chicago and found my dress.  Every gown is plus size and they give you an amazing experience.   I am a street 22 so I was very nervious and worried about dress shopping.  They made me love it and I feel that the dress I found it the one and makes me look amazing.  They are patient and have a wonderful selection.
