Hi Bees,
Some of you may remember several months ago I posted about wondering if my dress really was ‘the one’ and had such serious dress regreat that I called the bridal salon and cancelled my order the next day. After doing this I spoke to my mum who reminded me that I had taken her and 3 of my dearest friends for a reason and that we would never have let me buy a dress that wasn’t right (she always knows the right things to say) so I re-ordered the dress. She also made me realise that a lot of my issues with the dress were actually issues with myself and being unhappy with the way that I look because of my weight.
Since then I have stressed about finding a bolero to cover my arms and stressed if it was going to fit and if it really was the best choice for me (considering the sample was about 6 sizes too small I really didn’t have a great idea of how it was going to look).
Well, yesterday I picked up my dress and I think I can safely say I did make the right decision. I took the advise of Bees and removed the straps from the dress, took the lace off these and had it added to a bolero I had made out of the same lining and tulle of the dress. I have also managed to loose 26 pounds and am feeling better about the way that I look (some of you may even be surprised to know that my dress is a UK size 28).
Here are some pictures from the day I picked up the dress and I hope that they may inspire other plus size brides that are having dress regret that you picked this dress for a reason. I have still never had the teary eyed “yes to the dress” moment but I do now recognise that even 6 sizes to small I chose this dress, and if that isn’t enough to tell you that it is “the one”, nothing is.
