Hello fellow brides,
This is my very first post and I guess I am hoping for some support from some fellow plus-size brides.
I purchased my wedding dress about 3 months ago and am constantly questioning whether I made the right decision. As a plus size bride I was limited in what I could try on and the dress that I ended up ordering was 4 sizes too small so it was difficult to get a definite idea of what it is going to look like. I never had that “the dress” feeling everyone talks about and I’m wondering if other plus size brides have experienced this? My mum thinks that I’m projecting my unhappiness about the way I look onto the dress (and I do hate the way I look right now).
Sincerely hoping for your input

@Katchin: Throw up a pic, I’m sure it’s lovely. I have several threads on the board about being a plus size bride. It’s difficult, but please just remember that plus size and pretty are not mutually exclusive!
I didn’t have the dress feeling either – because I didn’t even try on my dress! It was a size 10, and I wasn’t getting my big old butt into that.

I think the dress is lovely! It is hard to say it looks ‘perfect’ be cause obviously it doesn’t fit right, but the dress is beautiful and I’m sure the right size will look amazing on you! It’s so floaty and princessy!

I usually don’t post about dresses but I really think that looks AMAZING on you!! I was a plus size bride too so I never had the feeling about my dress either. But I ended up feeling beautiful on my wedding day.

Your dress is very pretty. I love lace but lace didn’t love me lol.

I reallllllly reallllllly love the dress! gorgeous!
In my opinion and my experience, which you can take it or leave it, the straps/sleeves, while it’s a good idea in theory, especially when you’re self conscious, I think your dress would look much better without them.
Also, that dress is too big girl! if it doesn’t have a corset, consider putting one in. The more fitted it is in the top, the slimmer you will look and feel.
Very pretty though!

i’m also a plus sized bride. i didn’t have the feeling that you see on ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ when I bought my dress, but my husband insisted it was perfect and that he could see in his head how the real one would fit. he was right. when MY dress came in and it fit perfectly…. it was amazing. i was speechless and couldn’t stop smiling. i wanted to stand in front of the mirror forever.
i think when you get it fitted correctly, it will help.

Honestly, I think the “moment” is totally over rated. The dress is beautiful, and will be the dress you marry your Fiance in, that is what makes the “moment”, IMO.
Like men, I don’t think there is just one dress that you can be happy with. You could get married in any number of dresses and be just as happy.
Just as if you and your Fiance hadn’t have met, it wouldn’t mean that you were doomed to a life of spinsterhood. There would have been another guy come along who you also fell in love with and married and couldn’t picture yourself without.

I like it, I think it looks great!
If you dont like the way you look right now, you wont be “happy” in anything, The dress looks beautiful… rest assured on that fact! I am plus sized and dont like how I look, Im dieting and excersizing and having lost 2 stone, want to lose another 2 before June 29th (day after your wedding :-)) though I did find one dress I felt stunning in at this size and thats Pronovious benicarlo, though I bought a similar dress that I havent tried on (fingers crossed)
How do you feel over loads of positive compliments? any better? because then you can work out if your mum is right?

I agree about the straps, I think the dress is better without! (im not a wide strap fan)
I love halterneck though

@bluebelle23: The dress pictured is actually about 4 sizes too small so it is “clipped” to me which is probably why it looks to big.
I didn’t even know I could get corsets put into dresses!!?? Is this something that is normally organised during alterations? I had already considered making it a lace up back because it will suck me in much better but I might do the corset thing as well
In regards to the straps…I absolutely hate my arms…and i’m not saying that as one of those people who post a pic and then everyone wonders what they are worried about, I have weird fat rolls on my arms and never go out in public without something covering them. When I ordered this dress I spoke to them about sleeves and they said they could do something when it came time for alterations but I’m wondering if I would be better off with a bolero…thoughts?
