- Wedding: August 2012
I’m a plus size bride and thought finding a dress would be hard not only because of my size but also because my dress had to come under $1000, including alterations. We just bought our first home 6 months ago and I am doing as much DIY as I can do to have a beautiful, personal wedding without spending a fortune. I am a street size 16-18 and in bridal I usually wear a 20-22
I travelled 6 hours from home to visit my MofH and this was one of the last dresses I tried on when we decided to try on dresses on my last day there. The dress was OVER budget at $1100, but I thought I would look for it back home knowing near toronto the dress would probably bemore expensive, the whole time looking at the dress in the mirror, loving how it looked, the details the touch of lace at the bottom, oh and how it made me look 15-20 pounds skinner!!(without a shaper!!) the dress is called Brittany and it’s a Maggie Soretto
I didn’t want to take it off, so I took one last tour dancing around the store and made sure I could sit in it since it was an 18 and fit like a glove.
Then the sales women, knowing I was out of town and I think she was tempting me with an offer I couldn’t say no to ..she offered me the sample for…$500.00!! How can you say NO to That!! There is hardly any wear on the dress and the bottom of the dress just needs to be spot cleaned by hand, but it’s on the bottom, no one sees that. then I thought about getting it home since I had to take the bus from ottawa, then the subwasy and another bus in Toronto..when my Mof H offered to keep it and drive it down on a visit to me in a few weeks..that did it for me!! I said YES!!
Later I was nervous about being so impulsive since I had two other dresses I was considering and hadn’t planned on buying the dress until December, but this one was a dress that looked amazing on and would otherwise have been out of my reach,It being an 18 would also allow me to lose more weight without having to take in the sides due the the corset back. So I took advantage and siezed the moment!
Heres the dress, let me know what you think!
