@tranquility: I’m sorry your not very excited about it.  It will be far less painful then you fear, that I can assure you!  Dont worry about what you think others may think, just worry about you and your honey!  The rest will take care of itself and you will end up with amazing photos that really show off the emotion between the 2 of you.  Thats what its really about.  Please post when you get them, I’d love to see!

I have a few suggestions for you. Wear something figure flattering. Do not wear white it is the least flattering color, unless you have structure in the outfit. I vote dark colors. Stay away from faded jeans they make legs look wider. Go for a dark, straight leg pant and a high heel with a pointy toe. It enlongates your leg, making your weight appear to distrubute better. Unless of couse you opt for a pretty dress or skirt. In which case I suggest and EMPIRE waisted dress.

I hope at least 1 thing in there was useful for you. Also mention to your photographer that you’re a little body concious (before the shoot!) and ask if he can look up ways to shoot you in a figure flattering manner. They’re pros he should know how to make you look good!!!

I’m taller than Fiance and I’ve told my photographer I’m a little nervous about looking like his giant counterpart and have asked him to figure out how to minimize our height difference to make it appear less obvious.

HAVE A DRINK (it might loosen you up and you may have just a tad more fun πŸ™‚

I just stalked your prior messages to find a picture – it looks like you and I have a similar body shape! I’m with other posters – just be confident, express your concerns to your photographer beforehand, and enjoy the moment. I’m interested to see how your engagement pics turn out! Post a follow up! πŸ™‚

Don’t worry hun! My stepmom took our e-pics and we had a BLAST πŸ™‚ My tip? Focus on him! Think about everything that you love about him and why you want to spend the rest of your life with him. Trust me, how you look will be the last thing on your mind πŸ™‚

I’ll be honest and say it was really awkward at first, because we had no idea what to do, but after a couple goofy poses that my photographer told us to do, we both loosened up. Just try to act as natural as possible and focus on your honey. We talked alot with eachother and just joked around, so the majority of our smiles weren’t “Cheese!” ones, lol.

I was FREAKING OUT about our pictures. And I’ve seen a tiny sneak peak of them so far, and yah… I hated how I looked in a lot. The sideways standing ones really emphasised my tummy, and the ones I liked the best? Definitely the front facing ones! You’ll get to know which sorts of ‘poses/stances’ work with you best. Just use this as a trial for your actual WEDDING pics, I know that’s what I’m doing!

I have posted these before … but here are some of our e-pics! We had 2 e-pic sessions (we got a free one from our photog because it was so damn cold during our winter one).

@tranquility: I had two sets of e-photos, the first set, I worked out really hard two months before them and lost about 15 pounds. I looked like crap in the photos though because the photographers actually positioned me in unflattering ways and then did these angles from the ground looking up at us. Blech.

Second set–I gained some weight before them (I didn’t care at that point) different photographer. I wore pants that were too tight but the photographer told me really flattering ways to pose and did this effect where our bodies were a little blurred, and I think she slimmed me down! LOVE her. I looked 25 pounds lighter than I was in some of them.

Just make sure your photographer is on the same page with you. And @vmec: had great advice. No white, no plaids, no light jeans. They will blow just about everyone up in photos.

whoops!! I wore Ivory and ruffles. Personally, I am a big fan of layering. And wearing something that you are comfortable in and very you.  Try to relax and have fun. A good photographer will know how to catch you in flattering ways.

Everyone who has seen our pics has commented that we look great and they can really tell how happy we are.

The one thing I kind of regret is the dress I wore. I’m not plus-sized, per say, but I’m not really toned and have gained a lot of weight in the past few years. Anyways, my dress had tiny thin straps and didn’t cover my back well (letting my back fat all hang out). I love vmec’s suggestions- especially the dark wash jeans and dark shirts. πŸ™‚ Very slimming. You’ll be comfortable wearing it, too.
