For any New England girls out there I just wanted to share my experiences. I was totally dreading dress shopping but it ended up not being bad at all! That being said, I am glad I didn’t go to David’s Bridal first.
1 2 5 Bridal in Plaistow was alright – not a whole lot of choices in dresses under $1100, but if your budget is over that she said she had a bunch more. The lady was really nice and I would recommend trying here.
Marry & Tux in Nashua was great. The woman I had was very nice and helpful and they had a ton of plus size gowns up to a 26W. I ended up loving 2 dresses and will be returning there with my Maid/Matron of Honor to try them again!!
David’s Bridal in Nashua to me was like the Wal-Mart of wedding gown stores and that had absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the dresses – they were beautiful they just weren’t my dress! But the service was really bad. Our consultant was rude and spent the majority of her time with another bride (who arrived after me). She pulled about 7 dresses and didn’t even come back to check in until I was in the last one…and when she did come over her response was just “ok well keep looking and come back in a few months if you want to try more on” – she didn’t offer any advice and was just too busy with the other bride to even act like I existed. Maybe other David’s have better service but I will never recommend or go back to the Nashua location again.
I hope this is helpful to any New England brides out there! I know I had a hard time finding salons that carried plus size sample gowns. I will update with any other salons I find…if I decide to go anywhere else!

Hi TXNHBride – I’m a plus size bride as well. I did end up getting my wedding dress from David’s Bridal on my very first visit. This was because I was determined to find something quickly and just get it over with because I’m not someone who likes to go clothes shopping in general. I am happy with what I picked out. I do agree with you about David’s Bridal. They weren’t terrible, but the service wasn’t that great either. Please do keep us updated with your progress!
I see that we are date twins! You are the first person I’ve seen on Wedding Bee that has the same wedding date as me.

I would suggest the Wedding Dress in Portland CT they carry a lot of different sizes. They have some bigger name brand dresses. Also I think it’s jasmine dresses have that extra panel that goes until a size 26 or something I think that was jasmine.

My date isn’t official but I think its what I want…next year though not as close as you! Thursday wedding…we have to be different LOL
I ended up finding my dress at a place which initially really annoyed me. I called ahead and they said they had a “whole bunch” of dresses size 22 and up…well I got there and there were 2 that I could fit into. I was sooo annoyed but I tried the 2nd one on and totally fell in love!! It’s not what I envisioned at all – I totally thought I was going to be an Alfred Angelo bride…but it is perfect and made my whole entourage cry so I knew it was the winner! I found it at Fabulous Formals in Sanford ME and it is Davinci style T8109!

I ot mine at 125 Bridal. They are now owned by Madeline’s Daugher, but they are considered the “low end” of Madeline’s. I tried on a LOT of dresses that were under $800 (which was my limit).
I thought David’s Bridal was a zoo! it was so packed with people and ZERO privacy!

I hope you find your dress! It’s a bummer that the service at David’s Bridal was so crappy, but unfortunately I’ve heard nothing but awful stuff about them. Good luck!
