I am getting married in August 2017 and need to go wedding dress shopping soon. I am a plus size bride (14W-18 depending on the brand). I hope to lose a bit of weight before the wedding, but I am being realistic and want to try on dresses that will actually fit. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and would love recommendations for bridal salons and shops to check out. I don’t mind a short road trip. I have already made appointments at David’s Bridal and Trudy’s in Campbell.
Also, what kind of undergarments would you recommend taking/wearing for wedding dress shopping? Spanx and strapless bra?
Please and thank you!

I’m not “plus size”, but I recently went wedding shopping with a friend who wears the same size as you and I have to admit it wasn’t easy for her. So many bridal salons have samples that are size 10 MAX and most women aren’t even that size!
We did have success at Novella Bridal in SF. They had some larger sizes she was able to try on. But regardless of which salon you go to, call them first and confidently tell them your size. Never feel bad. My friend used to feel bad about her size, but she got over it. David’s Bridal has some good selections, however not all stores have the larger sizes as samples. So I recommend calling first.
As for online, have you tried https://dollycouturebridal.com/ ?
They have a variety of sizes!
Hope that helps!

I am a similar size and had great experiences at Nordstrom and The Dress Theory in Seattle. I believe they both have locations in SF. Nordstrom had actual plus size samples, but I was able to fit into straight size samples at both stores. They had to clip the dresses to my undergarments, but I was able to get a feel for how the dresses would look on my figure. Good luck!

I’m around the same size as you and am going to start dress shopping soon as well. I live in San Luis Obispo but my parents are in Santa Cruz so I’ll probably be shopping in the Bay Area. So far from online research I’ve found Trudy’s in Campbell, Elegant Lace Bridal in San Jose, and Bridal Viel Fashions in Capitola supposedly carry plus size samples.
