Don’t fear! There are plenty of gorgeous options! Specifically, I’d try Alfred Angelo & Maggie Sottero. Best of luck! I’m a street size 20 and LOVED my dress, and it fit me beautifully. It was Alfred Angelo 1136. Excuse the fan, I was HOT!

I’m a plus size bride and I had the same fears but trust me, it will all work out in the end. I’m a street size 24 and I really thought that I was going to have to settle for the best of the worst. I couldn’t envision anything looking great on me. I tried on a few dresses that were nice but I didn’t feel like any of them were “the one”. Eventually I tried on the Alfred Angelo 2082w and I knew right away that it was my dress. It’s completely different than the shape I was envisioning but I absolutely love it.

For the longest time I thought I’d have to go with A-line since my tummy is a major problem area but to be honest, the A-line looked awful on. My dress is actually fitted through the whole torso and it looks incredible. If I can find “the one”, anyone can! Good luck with your search!

@UpstateCait: Every time I see your dress, I’m WOW’ed! You look like a skinny mini in it! I would never guess your actual size, nevermind that you’re plus size at all! You’re gonna look gorgeous girl!

Another plus-sized bride here! Just want to re-assure you that you will find the dress of your dreams! It might take you longer and it might be more frustrating, but it will happen!

I found a-line shapes, empire waists, and asymmetrical routing to be the most flattering on me.

@cameronwedding: I was the same way, In fact I was so concerned I waited until almost 4 months before the wedding to go look (bad move!) But one thing I did that helped was I called around and asked around about which shops have more plus size dresses actually on hand to try on. I think that finding a place where you can actually try dresses that fit helped make it less concerning.

@MrsMaine:  And that’s why I love my dress! =) If I can look half as awesome as you did, I’ll be a happy camper!

@Crisark & @JoJo Bananas: Gorgeous and gorgeous!

@cameronwedding: I totally second (or third) the rouching. Pretty much every dress I tried on had rouching and it does wonders for just about any size.

@cameronwedding:  just remember that wedding dresses are built MUCH different the most regular dress typically.  Most wedding dresses have a much better structure and support system rather then requiring body slimmers etc.  Go with an open mind and try stuff on that you typically wouldn’t especially if the consultant recommends it!

My best tip is that I LOVE both rouching and the corsett backed dresses!  Here’s my dress – I was a street size 18 and it’s a David’s Bridal dress:

you will find one.  Mori Lee is really good here are pics of me in a few dresses, mostly Allure:)  but some others as well. I am not sure what style you are going for so I’m posting a few of my favorites.

EDIT: so the first one is Mori Lee Julietta 3091, the 2nd one is the oleg cassini from davids bridal, and the 3rd one is allure.  the one i chose is a Kathy Ireland weddings.  soooo  you will see there are many different styles to choose from:)  I was scared when I first started too.

Be open to different styles, sillouettes, etc:)  try on EVERYTHING even if you think you hate it.  because it will look different on you than the hanger.  so keep an open mind…

and this is the one i chose:

I had this same fear as I wear about a 24 street size, I just went to David’s bridal today and they actually had several dresses that I could try on!  I don’t think I found the perfect one yet (at least not until I look a few more places to make sure) but I definitely found some styles that I really like and and an idea of what looks good and what doesn’t on my body.

It’s a lot more about body shape than size, really. My friend and I are the same size in clothes, but we fit them very differently. Keep an open mind about any style and have fun. I ended up with a fit and flare and going in I never expected that!

This gives you an idea what to look for based on shape. http://www.flyawayweddings.com/style-guide/dress-shape.php

i was worried about the same thing im only 5 ft tall and a street size 18!! i went to davids and really didnt like anything and being a 23 year old bride i felt most plus size dresses looked frumpy on me:( i say heck if you have curves show them off!! i found my Davinci bridal gown and they dont charge extra for women sizes and let me customize my dress for free. http://www.davincibridal.com/ thats thier website!
