Size 18 here.

You’ll find something you love, I guarantee it! And even if they don’t have your dream dress in a size that you can try on, you’ll usually be able to find a dress with a similar sillouette to try on and see how it looks with your shape.

Also I agree with one of the PPs who suggested trying Alfred Angelo. I was able to try on so many of his dresses that were my size or even larger. And he really knows how to flatter a girl’s shape.

@Qitty: I was unsure about the halter as well….but now it is growing on me ๐Ÿ™‚ We even messed around with moving the sraps

I would love to make it strapless but not sure if it would look right

I love your dress. There was another dress I really wanted but out of my budget ๐Ÿ™

Try things on- until you decide what you feel wow in— you never know what might work—  but make sure, in fact DEMAND they have it in your size.  None of this “hold it up and see” craziness.

First of all, I have to say you look like one hot mamma in your profile pic!  You should have no worries.  I agree with pp when they say try EVERYTHING on.  I had some idea in my head of what I wanted but when I put them on – bleck!  My dress is a lot more fitted then I ever thought it would be and I looooooove it. I was a size 20 when I bought it, the dress is a size 22, and I am now a size 18.  I wish I had current pictures to show you because now that they have taken it in in all the right places my curves POP!  I didn’t think I could love it more but wow, when they make it fit to you it really does make a difference.  Make sure you go somewhere where they have sizes that will work with you so you can figure out what you like and what you don’t.  I knew mine was the one when I didn’t want to take it off even though it was a size 14, completely open in the back, and they had to cut the bum a little to get me into it.  haha.  If I loved it then I knew I would love it when it actually fit!  Good luck and keep us posted!

Im a street size 14/16 and i really have an issue with my stomach, i tried my dress on and just fell in love. I knew it before it was even tied up in the back…

Go to Davids Bridal they have so many dresses in plus size (actually i think all the dresses they have there can come in any plus size… i could be wrong) But starting there for me, really helped to figure out what size i will need and get an idea of what shape dress would look on my body… Good Luck girl! Dont worry you will find one!

I was really worried, too!  Afriad there’d be nothing to try on, or that everything would look horrible on me.  I was so wrong!  We went to David’s bridal and I was able to try on tons of dresses, in my size!  There were so many flattering options.  I ended up going the custom route with a Dolly Couture dress, but if I hadn’t gone that way, I’m sure I could have found a beautiful dress in a traditional bridal salon.  here’s my dress.  ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously try on ALL options so you dont have any “what ifs”

Rouching was a lifesaver for me! I love my gown! I never thought I could feel (or look) so great in ivory!

Keep your wedding season (Summer, Fall, Spring, Winter) or location’s common weather in mind while trying them on; fabric will make a difference! I went with Bordeaux Taffeta!
