I think if you want to do the garter toss, then do it! It’s not like the guy is going to put it on, right? Just because you’re not tiny doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice on wedding traditions you would like to do!

Dont forget that garters stretch so it looks small in hand but stretches to fit your leg 🙂

If guests don’t like it, they can leave. I don’t think anyone expects a garter coming off a full-figured sized leg to be tiny. I am also full-figured and would laugh at all the skinny girls who couldn’t “fill my garter” lol jk. Seriously though, don’t worry about. I highly doubt anyone is going to be looking at the size of the garter.

you could always get a “normal” (?) sized one and keep it lower down on your leg. Doesn’t mean your Fiance cant pretend your Fiance went all the way up your dress to get it 😉

If you think you would be embarassed, attach another garter to your with velcro or ribbons.. This is the one that will be thrown.

Or, if you want a laugh, attach a tiny little garter to your real garter with velcro.

Make sure your Fiance is aware that he is to remove this one for the toss.

I honestly think you should be proud to flaunt your custom-made garter; being plus-size is not something about which you should bow your head in shame! Your SO obviously thinks you are beautiful and gorgeous just the way you are, so embrace it, girl! 🙂

We have been to TWO weddings this year where HeFlutter caught the garter…and them promptly stretched it over his big ol’ noggin.  The brides were 5’2 and 90 pounds soaking wet, but it still went over his mellon.

I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you.  Be proud of who you are – you will make a BEE-utiful bride!!

if you want it, DO IT! And everyone is right, they are so much smaller when not stretched.

LOL at your reference, I remember that movie!

@soontobemrsjohnnyb: It will be fine. I had a friend who has a very conserttive family and instead of having her husband go under her dress for her garter in front of everyone, she opted for someting else for him to toss…which could be a good idea for you if you think the garter is too much and just have yoiur husband take your garter off that night himself.

I’m plus sized and we’re having one! A note of caution though – consider buying custom because a too small garter would be terribly uncomfortable. I bought mine at Hello Design Crew through Etsy and she did a great job and was fairly cheap.

Hi there!

I made my garter myself. I just went to Joann’s and purchased the garter fabric and sewed the ends and wala! i had a garter! here are the pictures. :] good luck!

and i agree with the previous poster, having a “standard” one would be very uncomfortable. Im a size 4 girl but i have very thick legs, so thats why i DIY’d it. That way i measured and made it perfect for my size. :]
