keya51:  you are so not alone. There are a ton of weight loss and fitness boards on here. I am working hard right now myself. I lost 3lbs. this week! It’s not easy, but I feel so much better about myself already.  Find something you like and stick with it. Good luck!

Im normally a 16/18, ordered my dress in a size 20. I’m planning in needing this baby taken in AT LEAST 2 sizes by my wedding this October. Fiance and I just started watching what we ate and switched to just water, he’s lost 48’pounds, me only 15 ๐Ÿ™ what can I say ima. Sucker for the sweets ๐Ÿ™

 

this is is my dress now, as long as you find a dress flattering to your body, yoI’ll be beautiful no matter what!

I agree with pp, I’ve been talking about losing weight since I got engaged (almost a year ago lol) and I have lost some but I procrastinated HARD and it’s all recent. However, I went for my fitting last week and I have to say I look AWESOME in my dress, and I NEVER think I look awesome in anything haha!! Other than that just do what you can and try not to put too much pressure on yourself!! You’re already beautiful, you’re fiance loves you just as you are and that is not going to change ๐Ÿ™‚ But I know this is probably more for yourself than anyone else! For me, my body responds better to exercise than to dieting. Try to start out by taking time out to just walk for half an hour everyday, even just after work or after dinner. Bring your family along it flys by! Once you start to feel better and see results it kind of falls into place. Also if you can find a local place that has classes they always help to get me jumpstarted. Good luck!

The dress is GORGEOUS and looks wonderful on you.

That aside, if you want to be healthier and stronger and (I’m gonna say ir) S*XIER, start eating veggies, egg whites, berries, and nuts. This is basically the Paleo Advanced plan, very nutritious and you WILL feel great almost immediately. For me, it took ONE DAY to realize that this would work wonderfully for me.

I am very old, hypothyroid, and lost 85 pounds.

DON’T do this because you think you’ll look better. You already look fabulous. Do it beccause you want to feel WONDERFUL as you enter this new phase of your life!!!!

Remember- base ALL your eating on veggies, berries, raw unsalted nuts and egg/egg white. Double or triple the amount of walking you do every day, use Stevia or Truvia for sweetening. No sugar, salt, grain or dairy.

I’m sure you look beautiful but if you really want to lose weight I recommend getting the My Fitness Pal App, it helps you track your calories and honestly watching what you eat is going to help you lose weight. As I was told, watching what you eat is like Batman and exercise is Robin. You can excersice a ton, but if you aren’t getting good quality calories then is all for not. I started to watch my calorie intake and have lost two pant sizes in about 3 months. It hasn’t been easy. Its hard! I love my bread, burgers, and mexican food, but I had to limit those so I could get to my goal size.

 

Also keep in mind, that one bad meal isnt’ going to make you fat, but also one good meal isn’t going to make you skinny. Good luck! I’m sure no matter what you will look stunning!

Weight watchers works for me. If I stay within my points–i usually never get hungry–I lose about 1.5lbs to 2.5lbs without exercise a week. Good luck! You will be gorgeous in your dress no matter what! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was once 311lbs. Easily a size 20/22. I had begun losing weight just before, but when I got engaged – I went into superwoman mode. I have since lost 41lbs. Depending on what I’m wearing, I can now fit in a 16 or 18. I have every intention of losing another (atleast) 25 lbs, before I walk down the isle. I’m considerably tall (5’8), so I can carry some meat on my bones nicely. I used a local bariatric doctor (dieting, supplements, B12 shots, and meds). I plan on putting ‘Lose the Gut, Not the Butt’ workout video by Anowa Adjah into overdrive over the next couple of months. She is the #1 plus size personal trainer in the world; 207 lbs of straight awesomeness.

Rather than focus on being a certain size for youyr wedding, choose instead to adopt a healthy lifestyle that you can maintain. The weight will come off.

Anyone can lose weight, but most people who diet, gain it all back. They cut out all pleasure they get from food, then fall off the wagon because they feel deprived.

Make small changes, one at a time, that you can maintain. When faced with a choice between two items, choose the healthier option. Incorporate treats into your lifestyle or choose to have them as rewards.

keya51:  I never thought I would be the girl pushing weight watchers (i tried it as a teenager and it ddin’t work, but I was also too young to be structured and it was before smart phones and Apps which make it soooooo much easier.) But a year ago I tried it and actually followed the rules (which was tough but also kinda fun like a challenge) and it WORKS. I lost 25 lbs in a few months. Now I”m trying to get the last 5-10 off which is a whole different story… but let me tell you it almost doesn’t matter the last 5-10, if you get off the majority of it you feel new/amazing/confident/awesome. I tried to just “be good” or “be healthy, exciercise, eat healthy” but that just doesn’t work on its own. (or not well enough) WW keeps you accountable to the numbers/science. If you just honestly count your points and stop when you’re out of points… lbs come off! And there are a lot of great blogs/instagram accounts/inspirations out there of people who have mastered the system and sharing great recipes/eating out strategies, so that helps too. I just recommitted to following the plan so I can get the last 5-10 off for my October wedding. Try it for 2 weeks! I don’t think you’ll regret it.
