@Weetzie:  Maybe try and google “morning wedding timelines”?  I’m starting to get ready about 4 hours before my ceremony, but I have an evening wedding, so I’m not going to be of much help.  Hopefully someone the other bees here have had experience with a morning wedding.

@Weetzie:  Sorry I can’t be of more help, but I’m sure I’ve seen other bees doing brunch receptions, so someone has to have experience with this.  Does your venue provide a DoC?  Maybe you could ask them for suggestions/guidelines?

@Weetzie:  We have a 10:30am ceremony too!  AND… we want to do a first look, and as many formals of family/bridal party possible before the ceremony itself.  It’s going to be a long day!  Here’s our tentative timeline:


7:00 approximate start time (maybe earlier) for photographing dress and details

7:45 First look

8:00 Couple’s pictures

9:00 Formals – wedding party first, then family

10:00 done with formals

10:30 Ceremony

11:00 Cocktail Hour

12:00 Reception

4:00 Reception over

4:15 couple’s pictures w/ wedding party following

(After party…not sure what time yet)

8:00 Done with after party pictures



I don’t even want to consider when I’ll have to wake up to start getting ready Wink

Here is mine so far (some things are still to be determined)

06:00 – wake up, shower, have breakfast, get ready (comfy clothes)

08:00 or 09:00 – Hair and Make up app. (it will take aprox 4 hours)

12:00 or 01:00 – Go to venue and add small decorations

1:00 – 2:30 – Get dressed and have photos taken with the bridal party

3:00 – Ceremony

3:45 – 5:00 – Bridal Party and Bride & Groom photos

5:00 – Reception

I am in the morning. 11am start

  • 8am – arrive at prep location. set up
  • 9am – start hair and makeup
  • 9:30am – FH arrives and runs to prep in other room
  • 10:00am – Take pictures with individual people
  • 10:30am – Get ready to go
  • 11am – SHOWTIME
  • 12pm – ceremony ends, picture time / Guest off to venue
  • 1pm – pictures end – off to venue / Cocktail hour / brunch
  • 2pm – Arrive at venue – first dance
  • 2:30pm – PARTY!….and food….and booze….and PaRtY!
  • 6pm – Photographer’s 8 hours is up, venue 5 hours is up. everyone out
  • 8-? – After party? Atlantic City? MAAAAYBEEEE!!!

@Weetzie:  I’m freaking out about the decorating/setup!  Unless I can get in there the night before, or track down some kindhearted cousins who don’t mind coming early, I don’t know what we’re going to do.  The venue only sets up so much for us, and hiring a separate decorator really isn’t in the budget ๐Ÿ™

I just got engaged 2 weeks ago, so I’m not certain of our timeline, other than that the wedding is at 10 a.m. and we have to be gone from the venue by 1 p.m. The reception and ceremony are on the same grounds (a lovely chapel with a stone, covered pavilion for the reception). This is a bit of a destination wedding for everyone, as it’s in the town my husband-to-be and I will be living (we only have time for a 1 day honeymoon), but neither of us are moving there until about 3 weeks before the wedding. I won’t have the luxury of much DIY. ๐Ÿ™ We will have to hire a caterer, florist, etc. Friends will be able to help with reception decor.



We want good photos, but I don’t want hours and hours of them (not to mention that my fiance is incredibly uncomfortable in front of a camera). I love the journalistic photos done these days, so I’m hiring a photog who’s good with candid shots and finding creative details. We haven’t yet discussed my timeline, though!



My reception timeline is what’s fuzzy for me right now. I don’t know what’s supposed to be done when, and we don’t have long timeframe!




5:30 am waken & start getting ready (everyone will be doingtheir own hair and makeup)


7:15 am Drive to ceremony site


7:30/7:45 am Arrive. Unload any decor for the reception. Begin dressing/photos of dressing details 


8:00 am Friends/family begin decorating for the reception. Caterer and Florist arrive to setup.


8:15/8:30 am Photos of the Couple


8:45/9:00 am Photos of wedding party, then family


9:30 am Formal photos end; prelude music begins. Bridal party retires to dressing rooms (or maybe I’ll hide away in the chapel balcony to listen to the music ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).


10:00 am Ceremony


10:30/10:45 am Receiving line as guests exit the church. Guests adjourn to the reception. Brunch buffet opens. Any remaining photos taken in the chapel.


11:00/11:15 am Bride and Groom join the guests. First dance (maybe? not sure it we’ll have dancing).


11:15/11:30 am Bride and Groom are seated with wedding party to eat. Guests may come up to the table to visit with the Bride and Groom (2 chairs placed across from the couple for the guests).


12 noon Cake cutting and toasts. 


12:30 p.m. Bride and Groom leave the reception. Clean-up begins (thank you family!). 


1 p.m.-3 p.m. Possible after-photos. 


3? p.m. until Monday: Honeymoon!!
