DH and I have gotten into a nice little routine of Friday night dinners out. On weeknights, we often just make dinner and crash on the couch with whatever Netflix show we happen to be binging on…but we had a nice chat while walking on the beach on vacation and talked about how we’d both like to just get out a do a bit more during the week, even if it’s just walking the dogs or something simple like that. We do pretty well on the weekends with finding fun things to do, but often I’m the one that plans them. DH will pull out all the stops and do romantic sweet stuff sometimes on spontaneous and random nights but also for all the special occasions too..I’ve just tended to plan more of the everyday fun stuff. He was very open to discussion when I suggested we could work together a little more to figure out fun things to do. Date nights really help keep our sanity. Helps keep the romance alive during TTC, helps the time pass faster during the TWW, and helps us create memories and share some really fun times together…which we certainly will still do once I’m pregnant and once we have a kid. Our marriage will always be first, even when we have a baby, because if you don’t have a healthy and happy relationship…how can you be a team and raise a kid?
Anyone care to share some fun date night ideas?
Some of our favorites:
- Dinner and a movie..a classic, but we love it anyway!
- Mini Golf (indoor blacklight or oudoor regular kind)
- Cooking class
- Zoo, we go at least once a month (especially around Halloween and Christmas…and in the spring when they have all the babies!)
- Board Game Nights (we play some nerdier games, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassone, Power Grid, etc. as well as the classics)
- Seasonal stuff (haunted house, drive in movies, Christmas light viewing, etc)
- Shooting range (you can always rent if you don’t have your own guns)
- Aquarium (we do about once a year)
- Theater (we just got a neat pass that gets us great deals, free tickets to lots of things, half price tickets to other things…check to see if your city has this. Ours is intended to get under 35’s going to arts events)
Things we’d like to do
- Rock climbing!
- Local Improv Theater

welcome! Wishing you beginnner’s luck! Couple’s massages are one of my fave things of all time. So relaxing!
brunch is always a win! FX your first cycle is THE one!
Sounds like we’d all love some beach time with the hubs! I am super lucky to have just gotten some but is it greedy to say I want to go back already? ; )
welcome, jammie days are the best!
FX for you this month! hope #2 is the charm!
Glad to see you here! Hope this is your month!
I’m pretty new around here, so not sure what the regular schedule is but I’m excited. What a better way to create support and excitement even for those ladis POAS in the first few days of Nov!
Thanks for all the positivity and excitement already starting! FX for LOTS of BFP’s this month!
And kudos to all you ladies for taking those prenatals! That’s one of the best things we can all do even while waiting to TTC.
A little Public Service Announcement for the importance of early prenatals and some info on what’s important in a prenatal for those just starting out:
DHA is something some ladies (myself included) take as well.
It’s important to avoid too much Vitamin A and also make sure you’re getting enough iodoine…which most prenatals don’t have, so it’s worth taking a look!
http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/prenatal-vitamins (i think this list is particularly solid!)
Studies even show benefits in preventing preterm labor…. by taking folic acid up to a year prior to conception!
