Since this is my third month using OPKs, I would think that I would have the whole thing down by now, but today, for the second time this week I got an error message. I decided to start peeing in a cup and testing that way, which I know many of you ladies also do. My question is, do you use a new cup everyday? I didn’t have any cups today so I used a plastic container, would it be OK to use it again if I rinse it out well? I will pick up some cups when I get to the grocery store, but if I don’t have to go sooner, I’d rather wait to go this weekend.

@LAZB: I would think rinsing or washing it out would be fine. This is based on nothing scientific. Just my thoughts. 🙂

You were trying to pee straight on to those tiny sticks? That would be difficult! To answer your question, I’ve heard of people using the same one and just rinsing it well. But I’ve never done OPK so maybe one of the ladies who is more familiar can shed some light. All I know is if I tried to pee on that tiny stick I would pee on myself, the WHOLE stick, the floor etc.. haha.

@MrsSawyer: Haha, I use the Clear Blue ones, so they have the larger handle attached to the little stick. I must admit, I have been splashed once or twice, but I figure it’s all part of the process haha

First of all, urine is sterile. So you’re fine. But even so, it’s a little gross (it IS human waste, after all) so I used a glass (read: nonporous) cup that I just kept in the bathroom and used whenever I needed it.

@LAZB: OHHHHHH! HAH I’m picturing someone trying to use a wondfo type OPK in midstream. Sorry, I’m a dummy! That totally makes more sense.
I’m using it for pregnancy tests but I use a red solo cup…. so classy 😐
