Hey ladies –
Just curious as to what you think of this trend of pockets on dresses.
A family member is getting married soon and I got an email with a photo of her trying on her dress. It’s a ballgown type dress, but the dress has pockets! In the photo she is standing there with her hands in the pockets and I hate to say it, it’s not flattering at all! I’m obviously not going to say anything but I am thinking, when did this pocket thing start?
The Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses also have pockets (got a photo of that as well).
I don’t know, I just think it looks sloppy. Maybe I’m just getting old!

the bride having pockets is a little eehhhh to me, but bridesmaids having pockets I don’t have an issue if it’s done well. my MOH’s dress has pockets and they weren’t noticeable at all until she put her hands in them – oh that’s where they are!

My dress had pockets but you couldn’t tell at all. The only time I have pics with my hands in them was when I was trying on the dress (like your family member). The pockets came in handy for tissues, etc. I loved them! 🙂

I like the fact that there are pockets, but, like most pockets they are meant for holding a couple of small items, not as a resting place for your hands.
“Keep your hands out of your pockets and stand up straight”.
Did anyone else have a grandmother who used those words?

I dont really see the issue. But i dont know what i would ever store in the pockets. Maybe just some lipstick?

I love them and my dress will have them:)
but its because the night I met Fiance (at a wedding) my dress had pockets and the was his “opening line” to me…”Your dress has pockets?? What do you keep in there?!”
Man, I love him:)

I love them. However, I know that if I had them I would keep my hands in them all the time, and that’s not really the look I’m going for personally. But in general I think they are great.

A dress without pockets was pretty much one of the only things that Darling Husband requested of me when I went dress shopping. He knew that I’d have my hands in the pockets at some point or another, and he thought it would look sloppy.

My dress had pockets. You couldn’t tell by looking at it. I definitely didn’t take pictures with my hands in my pockets though. I really liked the convenience of having pockets.

Pretty neutral on them. They seem to me to be trendy in the same way that bacon, cupcakes and mustaches have been/are.
Not to say that I don’t like all of them cuz I do 🙂

I am indifferent? I had a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress with pockets, you couldn’t tell from the outside but I also didn’t really use them either.

I LOVE POCKETS!!! I am a little partial though…Only took this one pic with my hands in them. My guests loved them too. To each their own though!

It’s definitely a personal taste of each bride.

I’m a very practical person, I can’t imagine having any beef with pockets nor do I understand calling it trendy? Granted growing up my dad was a pretty intense feminist. He always told me I looked like a “village idiot” if my pants were pocketless (jokingly of course) and thought it was some sort of conspiracy that so many women’s clothing didn’t have pockets while nearly every male outfit did.. I always make sure I’ve got pockets 🙂

My dress has pockets, and I love them! They make for cute photos, and I love that I can keep my lip gloss in there & not have to bug my groom to hold it.. that’s the only thing he knows about my dress, that it has pockets. He’s thrilled too “Now I don’t have to carry your stuff around all night,” lol what a sweet guy 😉
