I’m starting to shop around for the bridesmaid gifts and I really wanted to get the robes for getting ready in.
But now that I’ve narrowed down the options for salon vs at home hair/makeup, I’ve opted to go to a salon (half the cost of travelling providers, I just couldn’t justify it). Is it pointless to get the robes now? We obviously wouldn’t wear them to the salon, so it seems silly to change into them after just for getting ready photos. Maybe I should opt for matching button down shirts?

@kmarie719: I’m wondering the same thing for me and my girls. Would it be bad to wear robes to the salon? I considered maybe doing it depending if they open the salon just for us rather than if a ton of people are there. Would love to hear some other people’s insight!

@kmarie719: I would do shirts. They have the cute Columbia ones you could o or an oversized mans shirt

@kmarie719: My salon is a minute walk from my venue, and this did not even cross my mind. needless to say, i got my BM’s robes, in my head i thought maybe they’d wear them there with pants, bc it’ll be cold, but i’m not sure

I think the robes are silly for the cost regardless of if you’re at the salon or at home. If you want the matching, maybe tell everyone to wear a (color) button down shirt and you wear a white one. That way they (or you) don’t have to pay for a silk robe labeled “bridesmaid” or something that they wll never wear again!

It is hard to consider robes that are to make you receive cute getting ready photos, much of a gift to your ladies.
Maybe try to pick out something that reflects their personal style or is something that they would like. Nothing says they need to match.

I personally would be uncomfortable wearing a robe out in public. I’d opt for the button down.
But…we are also gifting our gals robes (spa waffle robes) for a spa day but not to wear getting ready unless they want to. However, we will be getting ready on site.
