It’s your wedding and you don’t owe them any explanation. Period.

They can push all they want but that doesn’t mean they have to get their way or that you owe them an explanation. Your wedding, your rules, pick who you want to.

“I’m sorry, I’ve picked my bridal party.”

You owe nothing else. Just repeat.

“The bridal party has already been selected, but I can’t wait to celebrate with you all on the big day!”

Take it from someone who is dealing with the negative parts of having an obligated family bridal party member…

It’s your wedding and you can decide who you want to be your bridesmaids. Just be polite when you decline them.

Tell them that you’ve already sorted the bridal party, and that you look forward to them being at your wedding.

Just pick your close friends over your young cousins if that’s what you want to do. That said, your reasoning is off. The purpose of a wedding party is for you to honor the relationship and for them to stand in support on the day, not to “party.”

Stop worrying about them being angry and hurt. Take charge of your wedding now or this will happen in a lot of areas of planning.

You can pick bridesmaids for whatever reason you want. Your reasons are valid and ultimately it is your choice. I would just go with your friends, I think 17 is too young for bridesmaids and including everyone is too many people.

They will get angry with you for it. Oh well….It’s your party not theirs.
