:  OMG I LOVE the train idea!! That’s so cool – I wish I could do that! Instead I think I will have a nice old vintage bus to take us and our guests to the venue – with a very mini city tour on the way!

butternutter :  Thanks! I think it’s what I am most excited about for our wedding!

Vintage bus tour sounds like so much fun! And so much fun for your guest!

We did it, but not really for the ‘first look’ photos, we just wanted to do some of the photos before the ceremony.

It was great because we did all of our wedding party and half of our couple shots before the ceremony so we didn’t have to be away for as long during the cocktail hour. I also loved it because I wanted to see him before. I was really nervous and wanted to have that moment to ourselves (or at least not in front of over 100 people). After that I wasn’t nervous at ALL because it felt more like we were doing it together.

We’re doing a first look! Lots of reasons for our decision. Timing-wise, it works better because our ceremony is at 5:00 and reception starts at 6:00, so this way we won’t miss a huge chunk of our reception or barely have time to do pictures. Outside of the practicality of it, I feel like it will calm my nerves, allow us to have some time between the two of us before the ceremony, and I want him to be one of the first ones to see me in my dress, veil, etc. and not have to share that moment with all of our other guests. 🙂

We’re doing a first look.  Both my fiance and I feel strongly about actually being able to enjoy cocktail hour.  Not to mention we really want some photos together in a location that’s different than our wedding location so it would have been feasibly unpossible (unless we did them the next day). I’m not hugely traditional but am sentimental and romantic and did question whether it would take away from the walking down the aisle moment.  But my fiance can tend to look down when he thinks things are awkward or he is nervous so I know there is a good chance that moment might not play out exactly how it does in my mind and I personally think it will be more fitting for us as a couple if it’s a smaller more personal moment vs. in front of a crowd.  I still think the aisle will be special because the bulk of the people will not have seen my dress and I plan to put a veil on which does make the look more bridal.

We did not do a first look. Darling Husband and I spent most of the day before the wedding together (save for when I went to get my hair and makeup done). We drove over to the venue together. In addition, we chose not to do any posed pics, opting for a photojournalist style. I didn’t feel nervous in the least walking down the aisle, and I loved seeing DH’s face as I walked to him – it felt very real.

We did and i’m so glad for many reasons. We only had about a 30 minute cocktail hour so it was nice for guests to be able to move seamlessly from the ceremony, grab a drink, and be served dinner. Also, I loved being able to get our pics done and not be rushed for time. And, I was able to get some nerves out before the ceremony and enjoy a special 30 min with just my fiance and myself (we didn’t even notice the photographer really).

This also allowed us to be able to go offsite for our bridal party pictures to a gorgeous observatory in the town next to us, which made for some awesome pics!
