sablescorpion22 : I do wonder if things were just different back then? but I really, REALLY hate to be that person to generalize based on generations (I’m a millennial and on the receiving end of it approximately 100% of the time)!
eeniebeans : I think that it’s totally understandable if there is a medical reason that a minor shouldn’t be left home alone. I think pinkflamingos was shocked because in most cases, it is a bit strange for a teenager to still need adult supervision at all times. there is absolutely nothing wrong with having medically-advised reasons for a kid (or even fully grown adult) to not be left alone.
In any case, I fully understand some parents concerns being about kids not knowing what to do in the case of an emergency. When you put it that way, maybe I, a 26 year old kiddo, should not be staying home alone either 😳 (kidding—but not really). In all seriousness though, I do think that while most people regardless of age would likely panic during an emergency situation, a child of 10-12 might not be able to make the best decisions.
Are they still teaching BLS in schools??
